"Can you just send me a deck of what you are looking for"

This is one of the replies I hate the most.

Doesn't happen very often, but when it does, I never really know the best way to answer because I don't like sending a pitch deck to someone I don't even know yet.

Many of the times I really am genuinely interested to connect and see whether their business even aligns with my organization. So when they automatically say "sounds like a great opportunity. Can you please send me a pitch deck or a short write up of programs you are seeking partnerships for?"

... I don't even know if I want to partner with them yet .. therefore I have nothing really to send them.

Does anyone else experience this?

Ya I wouldn't send a pitch deck over, this is just a smokescreen and a nice way to say no.ย

My general thoughts is something like "Hey, happy to send something over but our platform isn't a one size fits all solution. I will include a brief overview of how we can help solve X but lets schedule a call to understand if there is an opportunity to partner ...."

Tell them you need to schedule a quick call with them first to better understand what you need to send over.

Send them a deck with pictures of dogs, or photos of your favorite basketball team. Thatโ€™s sure to get a response.

I would set up a meeting with you ASAP if you sent me a slide deck of dogs. No questions asked.

FWIW I donโ€™t think Iโ€™ve ever closed a sale that started with a prospect replying to cold outreach asking for price or for me to send them some info.

Exactly!

Sidenote - my organization is much, much bigger than this prospect. So the fact that they are asking for a pitch deck instead of taking a call, says something

It can be a bit nerve wracking but I'll say no most of the time or just share something extremely simple. I usually say we customize our decks to fit our customers needs to make sure it's a good use of their time.ย

As you mentioned, you're qualifying them as they are evaluating you so it's important to make sure they are putting some effort in as well. Otherwise you can end up jumping through all sorts of hoops and get ghosted.ย

This is either them telling you that theyโ€™re not interested or theyโ€™re not the right person. If itโ€™s the former and they donโ€™t even know who you are/what you do, then do what @UrAssIsSaaS commented. Otherwise, if itโ€™s the wrong person and they are intending on forwarding it to colleagues, then A) try to ask if there is someone more appropriate to speak with or B) do some more digging on your own to find more relevant contacts.

Yes, and I answer similar to your last bit and always keep it positive and moving forward, โ€œGreat, I sure can, to better understand how we can partner best which time are you free next week to review the decks?

Send them a deck of your limited value.

Then let them know if they proceed they can see/experience the real thing.

Explain that โ€œwe custom tailor every proposal/ deck to the brand opportunity weโ€™re looking to partner with so weโ€™d need to connect for 15 mins first to better understand your goals and objectives.โ€
