Career Dilemma

I have been in my current sales for almost a year. I am now in a position where I can really start killing it. I've built great client relationships and have some massive projects in the pipeline. I have done ALL OF THIS with zero support of any kind from management. In fact, I mostly feel they do all they can to stay in my way.

I have a clear path to a nice EOY bonus, but an offer is on the table. It's a role at a company that I really like and the 1 person I know who works there said everyone is cool AF, it's not stressful and management is super tits.

This would be adding 34K to my base salary as well, with room for upward movement as I know my contributions would be immediately felt.

I find myself struggling with staying put with the devil I know and putting up crazy points (and enjoying seeing them with egg on their face forever) OR going somewhere new, making more guaranteed money but not having to put up with nonsense all of the time.

Get at me savages!

If the bonus is less than the bump, go.

Can always tell them you have a fat bonus you’re leaving. See what they do.

I feel like you have a chip on your shoulder and like doing all of this on your own. Do you have to move on this opp now or can you get your EOY bonus and then make the move to this new spot in Q1 2022? Have your cake and eat it too

This is true. I caught so much shit in my ramp up phase and tho I am enjoying being a made guy now, I would enjoy a bigger bag and less BS for sure.

No cake and eat it too on this deal, if I’m gonna jump, the time is now.

Can you make up the EOY bonus with the higher base and projected OTE? If so jump, it sounds like thats what you want to do anyway.

34K increase to base + assurance from a trusted friend + you aren't happy with your current support + this hiring market = I think you should go for it.

Even if you've done well and taken the year to set yourself up, the old saying a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. Do you know how much you stand to make for end of year bonus? Is it more than 34K?

If you know this new opportunity would immediatly mean this raise and that you can work somewhere you will be more supported and hopefully happier, why wouldn't you go?

A good salesperson is always going to leave something on the table when they go. Take that off of the table and evaluate how you feel about the opps.

As what has said previously, if the bonus is less than the bump in pay why not jump?

I can't speak on the industry you are in or looking to be in, but if they have busy or slow times of the year that may make you look at the job further.  If they expect Q1 to be banging with a lot of incoming leads/sales the reason to jump soon to get ramped up would make sense to be able to take full advantage of 2022.  We know that it does take time to get your feet underneath you and would you prefer that time to be now to hit 2022 running or waiting and then starting 2022 out a bit slower.

@ultraman Found this in your feed from back in October. Is this the same company you just started with?

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
Have you told the new company about the bonus? They might be willing to match it to at least some degree.

If the next company excites me, I would definitely jump. I would also look at the learning curve at the new org and any other benefits (monetary) to measure if I can recover my opportunity cost that is tied to my existing pipeline.

Even the best dancers have to leave the stage.

Having been in and around a management free environment, I'd recommend taking this on.

It may seem like you don't need it, but management that's rooting for you will help. That alone (with all else being equal) is good enough for me to take a leap.
In your case, it seems like you have a verified reference from a current employee and a guaranteed bump in your comp.
Go for it.

As a sales professional, did you think through and design your career path, or were you thrown in and now you're just winging it?
