Consulting for a prospect

I've been working with a prospect for almost 2 years,(yes our sales cycle is that long sometimes) and they came to me the other day asking if I wanted to do some 1099 work consulting for them. It's a company I would kill to work for, but I obviously don't want to jeopardize where I'm at. Advice?

Might want to look at your employment policies as it will most certainly be a conflict of interest.

Also, why not just buy your company's solution rather than trying to buy you?

ask for a salary. 1099 is a great way to dispose of you should things turn sideways. dont risk it.

Do you have any written bylaws about working outside of current firm? If yes, dont do it, if no and you can moonlight this go for it and make your dream come true, bust ass and get on full time there.
