Cost for a Sales & Biz Dev Initiative

Afternoon my fellow savages. I've been writing a sales & biz dev proposal for a small company and I have an idea of what to charge but thought I'd get some feedback from you very smart, funny and sarcastic people.

I'm sure I'll get some great insights and I want to be fair to myself and the client but I don't want him to run for the hills.

Thoughts?

Awaiting more detail, but I'll share high-level terms of a SOW/consulting agreement. At least this is what I've used and seen other senior exec level salespeople propose:

- minimum # of hours per month commitment
- $ per hour rate (200-500)
- TFC clause - if a small start up, equity
Most of the time, small companies or startups are strapped for cash, so they'd rather buy 10 hours of your time per month (or whatever) and offer a small piece of the pie, instead of having you on payroll, all the costs associated with that.

More details are definitely necessary, but this is a good overview based on what we have thus far.

More info needed. Length of your work. What you did for them. Hours invested. Roughly what you expect. How small is said ‘small company’. Your experience doing this and how long you have been in sales/ business development.
Need more to help ya son.

When I was writing this post I thought this would come up but this is straight sales and biz dev. List building, Lead gen, calling, relationship building etc etc, Theres already marketing. The company is a small pool co, they make above ground wooden pools.

Sounds like the equivalent of CRO work. What would they pay one of those?

I think it never hurts to ask them what budget they have.

What do you mean you are writing sales & biz dev proposal? What’s the deliverable to the client?

There are some great ideas presented above, but hard to tell what makes sense without knowing the scope of work you’re performing.

It’s a small pool co that manufactures above ground wooden pools. I’m looking to do a monthly retainer and a win fee. Market research, list building, lead gen etc etc.

do you have a track record of doing this with other companies? because if you do you could push for a retainer / monthly fee, if not you may need to charge on specific projects.

I would try to bill for outcomes not hours worked though.
