CPQ ๐ŸฆŠ

Quick question for my players and pimps.

Do y'all use CPQ or do you use an internal pricing system?

For those of you that use CPQ, what do you like about the tool? Also what are your gripes?

Cpq is good for approvals, where you have a lot of rules in places for terms and discounting. And itโ€™s good for us tracking who hasnโ€™t signed off yet

Sounds like a few good positive points.

Also it should be right in your crm, so save you time updating your pipeline. And when your territory changes you can view the contracts that were sent to current clients, lost clients, or lost opportunities

CPQ and my biggest gripe with it currently is the way we have it set up, doesn't allow for any adjustments on pricing for line items (ex. Implementation), which in turns causes the quotes themselves to look odd.

What an unnecessary frustration. I hear you.

I'm still living in spreadsheets with formulas. It's better than me + calculator, though, by a long mile.

I keep up with those too. We have moved from an internal system to CPQ and no one can convince me that it doesn't stand for "causes people to quit." ๐Ÿ˜

Sheets lead the way. Another tool to take human talent out of the equation makes me rage like a 3rd grader who got his milk stolen.

I am not a fan of all of these SFDC tools being shoved own our throats when they are clearly so buggy.

we use a project management software that has pricing capabilities built in. We get service on it from an Infor Channel partner. When it comes to pricing costs of our solutions, each manufacturer has their own software which can be A LOT to manage when you have dozens of products.

Current company is on spreadsheet but moving to CPQ soon. It can create a lot of consistency reduce risk in you quoting process.

That said if itโ€™s not set up right it will be a disaster. Last place I was at changed CPQ systems. They hired a bunch of consultants who has ZERO sales experience and Frankensteined together a piece of shit that required so many clicks that the entire sales team was threatening to quit during UA testing if it moved forward.

They made it look like our old system with a shit ton of bugs and no functionality for GPO pricing. Fuck it.

We use the good old Salesforce CPQ at my org - works fine except when there are fin ops policies changing but, it works good to track everything, calculates discounts, does all the numbers for you and they have it configured to where if the system allows it, you don't need to ask for approval
