Curious to see if chatgpt, autogpt, etc help in job hunting. If so, what AIs work? Finding this is a full time job in itself.

No. I'm not sure it's designed for that.

Use it for your resume and cover letters. You have to proompt it properly but it's just a tool like anything else out there

Haven't dabbled in that corner of the big brain, but these might be a bit more focused for resume creation. Good luck!

Have you tired using it for that purpose? Seems like a very easy hypothesis to test.

I'm not convinced it's going to help with the hunt itself, as I've heard the data it uses is from 2021.

But for helping out once you've found something interesting? Yes, to helping with drafts of cover letters or key words - you may get some interesting turns of phrase to help you.

Realize that a lot of other people are also using tools like ChatGPT, so using it without adding your own personal touches will not make you stand out.

@minssylouHow can any AI do the follow up work? Are you just sending resumes and hoping for the best? That's the way to NOT get a job. If you aren't making follow up calls, getting meetings with hiring manager(s), etc. you will NOT get the job. AI can't help you there.

I also see AI as a possible job hunting hinderance. An AI WebCrawler could automatically disqualify you and you wouldn't even know it.

Pros being it can accelerate and automate anything around the job hunt, customizing emails via prompts of anything you want it to say. But major cons is that itโ€™s quite easy to end up down the rabbit hole and in the weeds, losing what your initial plan was in the first place. The closest thing Iโ€™ve done thus far is chat gpt into a google doc by asking it to do something specific for me like โ€œ take my resume and use it to write an email to a potential hiring manager using witty languageโ€ or something lame like that. Itโ€™s very interesting to see what it comes up with but again, rabbit hole. If anyone has a specific workflow they like to use and what AIs are helpful for the job hunt, maybe that can be a starting point?

Never tried it as apparently it's still somehow restricted where I live ,recommend you to try it and provide a feedback about it in that regard!

what steps of the recruitment process are you exactly looking to get help from chatgpt etc?

Ideally Iโ€™d like it to send out ice breakers to potential hiring managers - ex finding an interesting fact about the company and being able to show my value proposition with that fact. Or something simple like congratulating them on a merger or whateverโ€ฆ. It sounds crazy but itโ€™s able to do stuff like that. Obviously youโ€™d need to do the backend work such as finding those hiring managers and the companies they work for. But those kinds of messages can stand out vs just sending a generic โ€œhey look at me I need a jobโ€.

When you have your LinkedIn account set to "open to work" and recruiters reach out all the time do you take the mindset of "I need to sell myself for this role" OR "The recruiter needs to sell the role to myself?"

Has massive growth ever led to mental breakdown? I have been hustling since 17 years old chasing to strive for success doing odd jobs and unintentionally ended up with Edtech K12 Sales as my first official sales job - A toxic culture with no employee respect eventually me to switch after 18 months. Since reps in Edtech are highly valued, had no option but to continue in Edtech sales. This time it was higher education segment, things looked good in the first few month but slowly it started adapting methodologies like the old Edtech since the management was changed. I decided to move out and switch to B2B SaaS. After 13 months of learning & success, my aspirations werenโ€™t matching with the growth vision shared by my manager and ended up being desperate to switch. Got to a AM-Inside Sales role with a 50% hike. Guess what? It led to my mental break down since the culture is pathetic. In entire journey, all challenges never affected my performance but l am losing the spark to glow and hustle eventually. While I plan to switch, a token of guilt is still alive. The experiences have made me far better and strong as a BDR but blank about the next steps in my career. Thanks for reading. Do share your thoughts.
