Director of Sales Compensation

Hi all,
I just learned that I may be tapped for the opportunity to jump from IC to leadership in the next month or two.  I can't find shit online about Director of Sales compensation and wanted some ammo to negotiate as best of a package I can.

Company is growing rapidly (40% YoY, about $170M now) with >500 headcount.

Currently, I'm a hybrid enterprise/mid-market/SMB AE, $1.3M quota and $200K OTE (50/50)  

The new title would be Sr. Director of Sales reporting to the SVP of Sales, starting with 5-6 direct reports and eventually building to 8-10.  These will be ICs with about $1M quotas each. 

Does anyone know what compensation is like for a role like this at other companies/what I should be asking for? TBH I'm not even really sure how leadership roles quotas/goals for variable are.

Great detail and info here. If I’m being honest you’re being slightly underpaid for your OTE based on what you shared. Most companies are expecting to pay 20% at minimum of quota to their sales reps so a 1.3 million quota should put you in a 260 OTE Range. Some are even going to 25-30% to attract talent. All that said I think a fair expectation is in the 300-350 range and it’s all about how much confidence you have in that and what you mean to the company

I knew I was underpaid a bit, but didn’t mind as much because of great work/life balance, upward mobility, and quota is very achievable. Actual take home is probably more ~$230K. In order for me to move out of the cozy IC role into longer hours, stress, and more responsibility I’m thinking at least $300K with at least $175k base.
