Dream job with a catch

I was applying for a job in a huge worldwide company, for a WFH position. First interview went great, they even called me the "ideal candidate". Sadly, they thought I was located in a different country than where I actually am located. Turns out they don't have a legal entity in my country and can't hire me for that purpose. I asked for a offer letter to get a work permit in another country.

I am super anxious since this position was awesome, a have a couple of good friends there, and the pay was more than twice of what I am making. However, I'm lost, not sure what the next logical move is. Anyone has experienced this or has tips? Thanks in advance!

Look you have to move ahead if something is not in your control. As the company is another country, will getting a work permit help you? Have you seen how much would be your expense (most important the rent as some countries have crazy rents).

Actually the living expenses are lower on this other country. Main reason I picked it.

Got ya. Easy way to do is through an employer, ask them if they are willing to help you. Nowadays, a lot of company promotes this as well to show the world how much diversity they embrace 😜.

All the best @Kinonez !

If you're outside of the norm for remote countries then you may run into this a fair bit. Sometimes they're wary of cost implications/obligations to workers in legal systems they don't understand.

Best of luck.

I saw the remote position and applied. The thought I worked in a different country because the company is from another country, but I work remote.

@Kinonez One option to consider is pointing them to a PEO (professional employer organization) like Gusto or similar. PEOs can provide the legal framework for companies outside the US to hire US employees. (This assumes you are in the US, but many other countries have similar constructs in case that assumption is in error.)
