Existing Logo AE Looking for New Logo Role

Hey Team!


I'm currently an AE on the Existing Logo side. I don't any renewals or anything like that, I do upsells in a very strategic setting.


Every time I talk to a recruiter about a new logo role and and they find out that I'm existing logo, I get a response like, "oh...you're existing? This role requires new logo experience."


What gives? My role is very similar, and in some ways harder. Prior to this I led two different SDR teams in performance for a total of 3 years.


What can I do to break into new logo?

Are there any opportunities you can reference that are similar to a new logo selling cycle. Whether it being going after a subsidiary/parent with no footprint. Or selling to another side of the org with no footprint that uses a competitor.

What gives right now is that recruiters are spoiled for choice, so they can be even more selective than usual.
Kosta brings up a good way to try and get around this - by pointing to new LOB or division where the cycle was new. Particularly if you had to be competitive.

New Products can be spun into anything you want = you broke in to new business units, new lines of business, new users on new teams, interviewing is about selling yourself.

Some of my team was on the new logo side at my current company before they came over to my team. You are right, hard to say when I haven’t done it, however, we’ve had this discussion before and both roles have their own unique challenges.

I work at an established company, so being a household name, a lot of the new logo reps hit or exceed.

I could, yes, but I’m really looking to join a start up.
