Hey guys - having a strange situation at the moment.
My company don't seem to understand the need or importance of having a sales team in place, we currently have a BDM team of 6 and all of us are really feeling it. We work for a marketing agency, we do the discovery calls with clients then we feedback to the technical strategists, who from there SHOULD go ahead and produce a proposal that we present back together then I do the follow ups, closing, negotiations etc.
However, once we do our discovery calls and feedback, the technical guys, who are higher in the pecking order but have no sales experience, take over the relationship entirely. We don't get to see the proposal before its presented, despite making it clear that we need to see it, we are no longer the point of contact. This is incredibly frustrating as I'm seeing so many deals from both me and my team fall by the wayside because we're unable to do any negotiating on price, the tech guys have a 'no budging' approach when it comes to the proposal, what you see is what you get, want something different? Then sorry but no. It is losing us so much business.
Despite making my feelings known multiple times, it's fallen on deaf ears. I'm at a loss on what to do and it's make me incredibly unhappy. I haven't been in this job long (less than a year) so I don't really want to move on but it seems to be getting worse and worse by the day and I have zero motivation.
It's really piling on top of me that my opinion isn't valued, my skills aren't valued and job role has became a glorified appointment setter. Not really sure what the point of this post was, just feeling bummed out at the moment and needed to vent.
