Feeling undervalued

Hey guys - having a strange situation at the moment.

My company don't seem to understand the need or importance of having a sales team in place, we currently have a BDM team of 6 and all of us are really feeling it. We work for a marketing agency, we do the discovery calls with clients then we feedback to the technical strategists, who from there SHOULD go ahead and produce a proposal that we present back together then I do the follow ups, closing, negotiations etc.

However, once we do our discovery calls and feedback, the technical guys, who are higher in the pecking order but have no sales experience, take over the relationship entirely. We don't get to see the proposal before its presented, despite making it clear that we need to see it, we are no longer the point of contact. This is incredibly frustrating as I'm seeing so many deals from both me and my team fall by the wayside because we're unable to do any negotiating on price, the tech guys have a 'no budging' approach when it comes to the proposal, what you see is what you get, want something different? Then sorry but no. It is losing us so much business.

Despite making my feelings known multiple times, it's fallen on deaf ears. I'm at a loss on what to do and it's make me incredibly unhappy. I haven't been in this job long (less than a year) so I don't really want to move on but it seems to be getting worse and worse by the day and I have zero motivation.

It's really piling on top of me that my opinion isn't valued, my skills aren't valued and job role has became a glorified appointment setter. Not really sure what the point of this post was, just feeling bummed out at the moment and needed to vent.

Move the fuck on, like yesterday. There are tons of great opportunities available right now. I see zero reason to stay.

Explaining the shorter stint will be super easy - "this company put a lot of the sales responsibilities on their technical team." Say no more lol, any intelligent hiring manager will understand.ย

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
I have a six month stop and a little over a year stop and theyโ€™re both explained pretty easily.

gotta bounce. 100%ย

stuff like this does not get changed with out MASSIVE amount of focus from leadership.

ย especially if you have already brought it up, I would not get your hopes up that things will change there

Oh boy
No job is worth your mental health.ย

If it's really that bad I would begin a serious job search. It's not a faux pas to have a shorter line on your resume--salespeople are naturally high-turnover.

If it's not that bad and you're just pissed, then I'd say buck up and find a way to advance your career in-house. No sense wallowing in sadness when there's happiness to capture.

Sounds like there isn't an opportunity to make a lot of money. That's reason enough to leave.

Siding with the majority here. Youโ€™re not selling, youโ€™re frustrated, and it really is a good time to look for a job that doesnโ€™t have process issues as this one does. Good luck!

I feel that in todayโ€™s sales hiring market you should definitely go work for a company where they value the skills and are not putting themselves ass backwards with processes like this.

100% time to move on. Not sure how long you've been there but if you wait around for things to magically change, you'll be waiting a long time. Plenty of opportunities out there who will appreciate the value you can offer.ย

My suggestion is to send an email that simply says "Have you given up on this project?" You may get a reply with some explanation, you may not.
