Hi Everyone,

I have made it to the final round as inside sales account manager at an IT company and been asked to pitch one of their services. This is how I have prepared:

Case Background: Prospect is looking for a hybrid-cloud strategy under its call for digital transformation

Who is the customer?

It is the CIO at a logistics company that has been in the market for 30 years

Pain Points

1- They have their own data center and servers. However business volume increases in November-December because of Black Friday and other sales campaigns. Scalability is an issue, they are looking for a cost effective solution so they do not end up locking capital only for a 2-3 months requirement

2- Do not want to invest in physical servers as that will require capital to begin with and then additional costs shall be incurred in physical maintenance of hardware and power supply of servers

3- Want to subscribe to consumption-based pricing so January onwards when there is lesser load, they do not want to keep paying a higher price

Solution

1- With us you won’t have to tie up capital as we will have you on a pay-as-you-go model. So here you are paying more in high capacity when you upgrade in months like Oct/Nov/Dec. And paying less when you downgrade in the other months.

2- We will manage migration and protection of data for you so you do not have to install physical servers at your location and do not have to worry about their maintenance, essentially saving up on costs. The infrastructure environment is managed by us, ensuring constant uptime, regular patching and updates, and automation-driven infrastructure optimization.

3- We are a trusted security partner for 1400+ partners so it will help reduce company risk and reduce audit time with continuous compliance services. Company will use our service to manage costs, utilization, compliance, and security across the entire private cloud estate – through a unified global dashboard.

What do you all think? Can I add more value to the pitch in anyway?

I like this pretty concise. As they won’t expect you to know everything, keeping this simple will put you out of complexity.

Second this with simplicity. From there if they ask deeper questions be honest if you aren't sure and then follow that up with the questions you'd want to ask to learn more information to be sure.

A lot of the time in interviews they are looking for how you prepare, problem solve, and present yourself; less about the specific content.

Yeah, I think there's some peril in overexplaining at this stage. Simple, concise, thoughtful is going to be best.

One thing I am curious about - does the company have any case studies published on the website? If you can weave one of those into your response, that's also a good benefit. "Company A saw a 25% reduction in IT overhead after 6 mos...." or whatever you find that is relevant.

I would key in on this and express how a flexible cash flow frees up resources for other projects/initiatives. Knowing that we can potentially free up ______ in your cash flow what are some key initiatives that you would like to impact?

@ChumpChangegood point. This is how I plan on ending it:
When we manage for you, you’ll get the time and free resources to focus on your core areas of transportation, warehousing and distribution! If you have any more questions, feel free to reach out and until then, have a great week ahead!

Good for you! My two cents, always close the call by "asking for the business". In other words, tell them you are interested in the role. I've been told many times by recruiters that candidates often forget this step thinking it is implied. But hiring managers like to see your sales skills in action by actually "closing". All the best for you!
