They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
Think about your company culture and the type of people who have been successful. Ask questions that help flesh out if this person will fit.
Its important to recognize though that this person has been vetted by several before they got to you. So if you have reasons to not hire this person, make sure they are concrete.

Doing my part over here.

But I must say that @FoodForSales offered a REALLY good perspective/way to go about determining what to ask.

100% agree. A focus on the outcome or end of process discussion is always never a bad idea

So, a couple of things. Of course youโ€™d want to check their style of communication, so open ended questions which probably has a detailed answer would work. Ask about working style and see if it matches your company culture. Ask about their strategies. Give them on the spot role playing exercise or give a situation to see their creative side. Since, the only thing that sells these days is being creatively different.

Mostly, since youโ€™ll be working closely with them, make sure you get a good GUT feeling when passing on the feedback or else trust me, itโ€™ll bit you only in the back.

Process and culture fit. I'm assuming they've already been through the ringer on quota/avg deal/sales cycle time/etc, so check they're personality to see if they're going to fit in with the org. Ask about how they've found success in the past and see if lines up with your org's gtm.
