Gong? SDRs? Clouds? I'm sure at least *some* of you aren't in tech- so what other industries are represented here?

Sales is sales for the most part, but each industry has different nuances. This board is naturally dominated by techbros and their newfangled clouds and toks, but what other markets are you all into out there? What kind of dragons are you knights out here slaying?

For example, I'm in the steel business, mostly selling to manufacturers of equipment for the oilfield, offshore, mining, agriculture, and transportation industries. We make the world go 'round.

Let's inject some outside jargon into this place.

Hello. TechDaddy here. I am no longer a bro, I have transcended that nuance.

I've worked in CPG, SaaS, Fitness (training), Insurance, and Recreation. Every single industry has a list of terms that will confuse the hell out of outsiders. Hit us with some of yours.

I like to BOP around after I get hot rolled. My wife asked if I wanted to try ASTM and I declined...I can't risk pink eye again.

Your industry sounds very interesting! I'm not in SaaS either. I was actually going to make a post about it today, but you beat me to it. ๐Ÿ˜‰

1.) I havenโ€™t found the banter in here broey and I definitely donโ€™t think Iโ€™m a bro, maybe Iโ€™m wrong.ย

2.) Corp worked in SAAS sales and thatโ€™s who he markets too so it is going to have SAAS as the majority because of thatย

3.) thereโ€™s a bunch of insurance, advertising and other sales professionals in here that also post about their industries quite frequently.

I love diversifying the war room and thanks for this post

Heavy equipment sales. People still put fax numbers on their business cards and I am like โ€œWTF??โ€

Jesus, if you can then I feel sorry for the poor bastards that are selling them. Talk about your days being numbered!

When I was in channel sales for Office Depot business division, some of my accounts had customers (mainly school systems here in NC) still fax them orders that had to be re-keyed into the system daily. This was in 2020โ€ฆ.

Agree with everything that Mooney said. I've gone both ways over the last few years and the biggest change for me was that the startup (fintech space) I worked for had a culture where if a large enough enterprise prospect asked for a new/additional feature to our solution

A few things that weren't really shocking but were annoying when I went from small to big was the amount of red tape around everything.
