Has Anyone Ever Stalled Accepting an Offer?

Odd question but has anyone ever received an offer from a company but wanted to wait for another company you interviewed with to submit their offer? Did you stall the original company? I am generally interested in how you would approach this situation. Cheers

Worst case scenario, accept offer #1, continue the interview process with the other companies and if a subsequent offer is better, take it.

If you havenโ€™t started working with company #1 yet, rescind your acceptance and if you have, respectfully explain that you had every intention of committing to the opportunity and didnโ€™t expect the other offer(s) to be competitive but wanted to see the interview process through for your own personal due diligence and they unexpectedly made an offer you canโ€™t refuse.

The amount of times ive heard employers rescinding offers, fucking people over in the process for total bullshit reasonsโ€ฆ Donโ€™t let them make you feel any guilt over it.

This is always an option, shouldnt be your first option. But if Offer 1 wont let you stall, do this

Absolutely reach out to company 2 and let them know you have the first offer.

I believe someone else asked something similar recently. Just let them know that you can't start until X date to buy yourself a little time (maybe September 1st). Then call the other company and let them know you have an offer and put some pressure on them.

yes this was recently discussed.
1) Take the offer you have, but push out your start date a little to buy yourself some time.2) Apply pressure to other company. If they fumble or balk then you still have a deal in hand.

I had two decent offers from meh companies and was waiting on the company I wanted to work for. After stalling those two for a week I called the CEO I was waiting on and said here is what I have from these two other companies but I want to work for you. Get me an offer in the next 48 hours and I am yours.

If 1 is the desired offer than go ahead and take it, if you want 2 more than reach out and say "Hi, received an offer, I have x days to sign and was very enticed by your company however I can't stall on this."

I think that if you reach out to 2nd company and build urgency surrounding the other offer, it could be helpful
