No doubt about it. *Canadian accent*

Same shit being rehashed over and over. 'Influencers' peddling old bullshit just repackaged.

I totally agree. Seems like the same old canned posts from the same personas.

I basically use to it for research and getting live updates when people leave/get promoted.

I havent had much luck setting meetings over the past 2 years. It used to be the main way I set discos too!

Hard to find any real content on LI anymore...it's all self-promotion, advertisements, and spam.

Why? Do you think it has?

Yes, I think that it has. It's become a platform that brings little to no value, basically just a search function for finding decision makers at prospective companies.

At this stage, it's a Facebook for DMs and sales people.

It devolved during the 2016 election and I've pretty much only skimmed it from time to time since then, as it lost a lot of business value.

Now it's influencers.

I only use LinkedIn now to connect with people I`m meeting (prospects, clients, colleagues) and chat. That still works great for me. The content, however, is becoming useless.

I think it has - it’s one of the tools I have stopped frequently logged in into.

If you're scrolling LinkedIn for content from "influencers" then yes. However it's still the best resource for finding and connecting with prospects out there.

It's gone very stale lately in my experience. I used to use it all the time but its just hard anymore with the amount of stupid posts and dumb influencers

It all depends on how strict you are about who you follow, which bells you ring, etc. There's still some opportunity there for sure and it can be entertaining at times. But people trying to game the system creates a sea of sameness with the content there.

Been stale since 2016… to be honest I use it to find out who I need to get involved in deals and that’s about it…

May be yeah, but think about it for a sec, what aspirations someone may have it on a job portal besides applying for jobs and communication between applicants and recruiters!!!

Yes. I barely use it anymore, especially since the industry I'm selling into now has basically no LinkedIn presence. There's no incentive for me to be active there unless I find myself actively job seeking again.

My challenge with LinkedIn is that it tends to skew towards just a few segments, so it's one big echo chamber.

Take a look at the stats here: https://www.omnicoreagency.com/linkedin-statistics/

It's a ton of self-congratulatory posting about this news or that news. However, it does act as a decent way to keep in communications with professional contacts, I use it primarily to message people I may not want to email with.
