How are you staying positive with the constant layoffs?

Im fortunate to be employed - even if its a job I'm actively trying to leave. But it seems like each day I see another company I know of having huge downsizing. I have to use LinkedIn for my job so its hard to avoid. Anyone else finding it really hard to not be super pessimistic with all of this going on?

Do you have to read the feed? Because that's where the doom and gloom is. So avoid if you can. I'm currently using LI only for research, which means entering a name and seeing the title, or using SalesNav to research a company - no feed.
If it helps, two recruiters hit me up today, so there are jobs out there; it's not all loss.

Yeah - market is not as tight as it once was, but there is still severe demographic pressure.

Oh, absolutely. It's not over, but the fact that there are still decent roles out there is a good sign.

I'm not. It's another day. Worry about you. Yes it's sad, but you are responsible for you. Remember that.

I would be positive in the US with that probably if I was eligible for the Unemployment Aid!

I hate to burst your bubble. Unemployment is never even close to your full salary and is never enough.

Yep, it sounds like a good thing, and it is better than nothing, but it's not enough. I'd get maybe 1/6 of my base. That's why we stress making sure that everyone has savings to cover them for a few months should the worst happen.

Try to avoid the Feed as much as you can, and I've been unfollowing those that are starving for attention.

To be honest, it's difficult. I got laid off in October and the only offer I got was at a substantial pay cut. Wife's employer is set to announce layoffs this week and if she gets laid off it'll really put us in a bind.
I try to keep in mind that LinkedIn is only one slice of the world. Not everything is going to hell in a hand cart.

Can't concern yourself with the misfortune (or fortune) of others. Rajan Inc. That's all you can worry about.

Gratitude.
What you do have should always be more important than what you don't.
If you show appreciation for what's important in your life, things will work out. Trust.
