How do you evaluate your tech stack?

How does your company evaluate sales tools?

I've only been an AE for 2 months after being a BDR for 1.5 years. I'm curious as to how you tenured sales folks make decisions on tech stack.

Zoominfo is something that would help in cold outreach.

For my sake and our BDR team something like ZI would help a lot.

What can I do as a rep to help get this kind of tool?

No, I am not a ZI rep, I just hear great things from friends who use it.

I have no decision in tech stack, neither do 99% of the rest of the ICs in here. Our opinions are about as valued as a half eaten McDonalds cheeseburger tossed on the side of a freeway.

@poweredbycaffeine may be able to provide some input from the RevOps side though...

I would do vile things for a half eaten McDicks cheeseburger right now.

Ask for a test run. We went to rocketreach after evaluating ZoomInfo and a few others that had really high price tags. We needed something flexible and it was suggested, we went for it, and it’s been the best so far. Present a case study after your trial run and then it’ll get expanded to a team, and if it is successful in a small group, then it’ll go to a more reps until everyone is asking for it.

@GrizzleMcThornBody I will look into Rocketreach, thank you for the recommendation! Do most companies in that space offer free trials? Or do you mean signing a small contract to start before deciding to roll out to a larger team/company?

@Only3QuartersofBANT Apollo.io is free, and it's more accurate than ZI right now. I started using it to get emails for our smaller inbound leads, which ZI rarely has because the companies are so small.

Try using that first, and if it doesn't meet your needs, go with an upgraded plan or get ZI by building the use case complete with ROI.

How is this for more rural areas?

I think their platform is unique because they have a built-in authenticator that will go out and find the email addresses for companies. I think there has to be 1-2 already in their system and then they can guess with high accuracy/ping the servers.

Not sure why my whole reply is in italics, but that's fancy, too.

Create a business case and bring it to your boss. “Hey boss, I want to buy X for Y reasons. I believe it can improve our revenue by $z based on the data points a colleague of mine is seeing at another company”

I found that ZI was the best prospecting tool unless you were into LI Navigator for social selling (I know you either love it or hate it). Just like everything else out there you have to show the ROI for your boss and I’ve found it the best with all my past teammates to find info without wasting time and closing deals faster IMO.

I make very influential decisions for my company. Cost is #1. Usability #2. Security is #3. I use a matrix table to build out and use percentages based off a 1-5 scale to determine who is highest ranked for my company. ZI is amazing.
