I'm happy when I'm over quota

Quota is a definite part of it, but that's not all.
Especially now that I've got a baby here. It's such a small, albeit extremely important, part of life.
It's strange because there's more pressure to hit, as I need to provide for my wife and child, but it also matters less, if that make sense.
If I'm not happy then I won't be a good husband and father.

Quota, because that is what allows me to buy things, like expensive Scotch, that make me happy.

Happiness 100%. Being unhappy being at 150% of quota still sucks

I'd rather be a semi-happy top performer than an insanely-happy mediocre performer. But being a miserable top dog? No thanks!

ps: interesting poll question though @vitocorleone

I donโ€™t want to be the top guy/gal. Its too damn much of a drain on the rest of my life (wife, kid, friends, hobbies) but Ill be dammed if Iโ€™m not trying to get to 125%.

Money canโ€™t buy you happiness but it sure as hell makes happiness easier to come by.

Because happiness cannot be measured, I suppose have to say โ€œquota.โ€

Important to note: because there are different measures of success, and at different career levels and life stages you will have varied priorities, itโ€™s not an immensely useful conversation to have anyway.

As Iโ€™ve gotten older, Iโ€™ve focused on happiness. If I could do it all over again, I would have had more discipline to do quota with set financial/aspirational goals to grind towards.

Still, it blows my mind that there are people who suffer in their bullshit jobs for the sake of having one with a weird sense of loyalty and security to stay in it.
