How long to fill the pipe on average?

I'm BACK.

  • Selling mid-market and enterprise
  • I'm the first sales hire (full-cycle AE)
  • Very rough playbook when I came in
  • My role is to build the playbook, test GTM motions, and build pipe + close deals

My question:

How long should I expect it will take to build my pipeline? It'll be helpful for me to know from the industry pro's (you guys), so I can have something to shoot for.

TYIA.

Depends on what you're selling. I'd say between 6-12 months if you're starting from the bottom, but I could be wrong.

They seemed to know it was going to take many months to fill the pipeline as most of our deals take 6+ months to close.

Its a lot of "it depends". What's the market type, your product, industry, etc. It could take 3 weeks or 10+ months.

Tough question - wish I could answer. But initially it’s going to be a long process unless the processes are in place.

will take you 6-8 months to get to 2x real pipeline coverage. then another 7-10 to start getting close to quota

got it. Very good to know. Any specific leading indicators you look for to hit those #'s?

All ties back to pipeline growth and typical sales cycle but on a 60-90 day sales cycle it usually takes 90 days of work to generate real opportunities to close.

What industry/what are you selling? What’s the price point? Generally, you can start growing it rather fast once you identify all of your targets.

Account Executive - Mid enterprise
Pipeline depends on:
- The market (Enterprise has different definitions in different companies, so what revenue range do you operate in) - The region you are working in - The sales cycle - The ticket size - The product you sell: Whether it's a must have or a good-to-have

The more complicated the answers to above parameters are, the longer it would take.

$30k is the low end, largest deal in our company so far is $500k ARR. Companies ranging from 100 - 2000 employees. This is in healthcare. It's a "good to have," not a must have.
