How many of you guys have had success in a flex sales role?

In a perfect world this type of work would be perfect for my situation, but I have not heard too many success stories from companies or reps... just wanted to float the question!

Thanks.

Strange there hasn’t been any success stories broadcasted from the Bravado team 🤔

idk who downvoted you, but they can shush or man-up on the reason. I still haven't seen any success stories either. @Kosta_Konfucius said he did it, but still didn't see much from a success standpoint.

I have seen multiple flex co-workers have plenty of success, I assume they don’t want to get doxed so they aren’t posting here. I assume they were average around 50/hr for the hours they worked. Not sure about the fractional leader

Given Bravado Flex is a side gig, majority of the flex workers don’t want to jeopardize their main role

I was going to start a BDR/SDR flex role. But the way Bravado does the contract they obviously charge the companies a monthly fee for finding us (the users on Bravado) for flex roles. I was told by the company I interviewed with if I didn't hit a certain threshold for meetings booked after 2 months they would take it out of my commission in order to pay the Bravado fee.

I can understand that but havent seen that in other role I have interviewed for. Unfortunately, the roles i have spoken too they are so limited in the resources they give you to be successful and the pay isn't good enough when you drill down into it for me to bother working part time while i have a full-time enterprise AE role. As much as I'd love the extra $ the time and effort seems not worth the potential extra cash

Hol up. They were taking money from you on work you completed for a fee they owed Bravado?

No, I was saying they would do that if I didn't meet the minimum meetings required. Meaning if i didn't hit for example 5 meetings, then they essentially are losing $ using/paying me and paying bravado. They put my minimum amount of meetings high so that my bare minimum requirement would meet the $500 monthly pay to Bravado they owe. Meaning if I had 5 meetings I wouldnt get paid I had to go over that.

Thus explains why i did not accept the role

Why aren’t they negotiating the fee with Bravado with an out-clause? Aka you don’t perform, they don’t pay. And you get let go. Not saying you wouldn’t, but that’s how it works in FTE roles.

Yes understood. It would be paid by my performance anyways but there was a minimum threshold in order for me to get paid which i didnt like and thought it was pretty high for what I had to do in order to get a meeting.
As to your point, im not sure just relaying what i was offered and why per the company

I have a flex role
Bravado did a pretty crappy job of onboarding; there was no discussion about start dates or how they would compensate (what % etc)

Having said that - I have started, did 2 weeks but xmas was busy so put on hold until Jan 8th

I plan on giving it a good go for 2 months and seeing if there’s success

I know it’s a long time to wait, but stay tuned in

Yes sir, I quit. It was a combination of things but basically:
1) they don’t have a great PMF - which means you need to do a LOT of outbound
2) because of the compensation, it wasn’t worth the amount of outbound required. The money offered was not worth the effort required to even get a meeting booked
- further to this, 5 new reps outbounded for 5 weeks and booked 1 meeting - that didn’t get close to closing

I had some internal restructuring at work and have more responsibilities now so decided to focus on those (this came as a bit of a surprise)

I tried it, not on bravado, taking a part time sales job but I was only making an extra 1k a month, and then my manager started requiring more of my time taking from my other job that was making me more so it didnt work out

I went through the Glencoco onboarding. Still waiting on feedback to get onto one campaign.
IT SEEMS like it's legit, connected my bank etc. But definitely haven't seen much noise or success around it yet.

It seems like a good idea, and companies are getting funded, so i'm unsure why this model isn't taking off like gangbusters

I've been running a fractional BD company for the last 10 years. It works if you have multiple clients. We never take unpaid/commission only roles. All clients need to pay a non-exclusive retainer, typically $2500-$7500/month. Let's take a tech sales example. You may have one client who sells enterprise software, another is a hardware provider, and another sells consulting. They are not competitors, they are complimentary in their fit. Calling on a C-Level executive can open the door for any of these clients...so it facilitates consultative selling, not a hammer in search of a nail. Need a call center solution? Okay, then partner with another fractional rep for a call center and split it.
Where I see it not working so well, for either party, is when the client wants free sales representation. So much so they offer no sales support or Marketing. It's all on you. I've led teams that have sold more than $1B in TCV. If my experience and connections are not worth paying for, then you are not worth my time. If what they wanted was easy...they would do it themselves. Consider the following...
Hiring It’s unwise to pay someone too much. But it is worse to pay them too little. When you pay too much, you risk losing a little money…that is all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the person you hired was incapable of doing the thing you hired them to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. It cannot be done. If you target to pay below market for your people, it is wise to set money aside for the risk you run. And if you do that, you will have enough to pay for someone better at the start. There is hardly job in the world that someone cannot do substantially worse and get paid less to do it – and employers who consider salary expense alone are this person’s lawful prey. Thom Mead

how did it go?

It went good! Nice guy - walked me through the process. Have a very brief onboarding penciled in where they walk you through the product you’ll be selling (high level). After that, you’re pretty much expected to dedicate 8-12 hours and 50 cold calls per week. Very doable side hustle. $500 activity based stipend/month + commissions paid out on qualified meetings set. Look forward to trying it out.

Haven't used Bravado Flex, but Upwork for contract BDR gigs. Not bad – working for a Gartner Magic Quadrant leader in cybersec and a Google Partner.
Significantly less than my AE base, but good if you need $ in a pinch.
