How many rounds of interviews do sales people go through on average

I'm interviewing for a startup. It's decent, as they are going for their series A right now soon to be profitable  profitable. What annoys me is that they had six rounds for an INTERN.
1. meet with a business development rep (culture etc.)
2. head of growth (technical problems/ ask me about my sales exp)
3. Cold call and email "test."
4. Meet the product operation manager (she asked me a bunch of product questions and completely flunked that, I'm interviewing for a sales position)
5. meet the CEO
6.Talk about pay
Is it just me, or is this just ridiculous? I felt like I just wasted all that time for no reason if they didn't accept me once again for an INTERN position.

That's what I call a waste of your time.

Just my opinion, but in this hiring climate, anything more than 3-4 (depending on level of course) is too much

I’m doing 4 internally for a promo from SDR to AE and I already did all this months ago but there wasn’t room for me. Shouldn’t there be less rounds of interview for an internal promotion?

I would think 1, max 2 would be more than enough for a promotion opp

Six rounds for an intern? I would say that's ridiculous.

Part of that interview process is to give you the experience of interviewing, which is something they don't teach in college. I'd call that a good educational experience.

6 rounds is absurd. Anything over 4, like others have said, is a waste of your time. Unless it's a dream position, I wouldn't put up with it.

That's a lot of rounds and something I've experienced actually at a couple of companies. Most times I'd say its usually 3-4 rounds.

Good chance they're just extracting info / insights from you, for their own use.

1. recruiter screen
2. hiring manager
3. person on the team
4. back with the hiring manager most times with a panel of other managers
offer / no offer
you should figure out pay in the first 2 calls, if you take more calls and you haven't agreed upon a salary or even a range, you're wasting time and/or doing free consulting for them.

This is intense for an internship. Probably shows they will be a lot of training if they have this many interviews.

3-5 is pretty average but 5 is where I top out.

My last job as a sales manager for a startup was 4 interviews long… for the fintech company I am with now, it was only 2 interviews.

The sky is the limit. I heard Shopify used to have as much as 8 round of interviews.
