How the hell is Cybersecurity SaaS not oversaturated?

I keep hearing people say it is where you want to be with in SaaS and it is the prime space in SaaS to make a lot of money and all that but I am confused. It seems like everyone, their grandmas, and their grandma's friend at Bingo owns a Cyberscurity firm.

There are many cyber firms. There are even more companies that aren't protected. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Everyone getting into the space means that inevitably some of the companies will fold and/or be acquired.

But - Cybersecurity isn't a want, it's a need, so the tech itself will be something that will sell. The trick as a rep is to find that company that is or will be a leader - or to join another company and then work your way to the more successful competition.

It is. IMO, you have to look at the specific use cases and how they are positioning themselves. There is no silver bullet for all use cases/industries, etc. What niche are they addressing?

It is, just not talked about as much yet.

We're already seeing some consolidation/M&A activity in the space.

this seems simple, but its so true.

You HAVE To be with a top player. one that provides all the good stuff to all the big companies.

selling cyber security Saas for small mom and pop shops are not going to get your rich. you have to be selling the best solution to the BIG guys.

much easier said than done.

Exactly. Nothings worse than trusting the most vulnerable part of your company to a startup with no proven trackrecord, reviews, and proof of concept

I think since the pain is so acute and quantifiable, there is just so much money around.

@BitcoinAddict: You have any insight into how these newer and smaller firms are doing? Even if I own a mom-n-pop shop, and looking for a cybersec, I wouldn't want to personally risk it with a company that has no proven track-record. Is that how it is out there, or am I thinking very conservatively here?

I agree with Fox here - there're many cybersec firms and they tackle several different Lines of Business.

For example, you can find CASBs which are basic security (Mcafee), but you can also find the complement for other protocols to make it double-layer security (AppOmni), but also there are complete environments to secure your data and comms (Netskope), but also you can pay for specific drives and vaults to secure critical data (ShareVault)... and so on and so on. So yeah, there's a lot, but also many different lines of unattended/blooming businesses.

Not sponsored. Just companies I had the chance to work with/use in the past 3 years.

I'm sure it's competitive now, but there are so many companies both big and small that need help with this. It's only going to become a bigger issue too

It is a need that many companies treat like a want. Much like insurance.
