how to be successful in sales

1 year ago I opened my own company, the business is about sales of all types of packaging boxes. At the beginning I had a lot of sales, I had good acceptance and many companies that are dedicated to the sale of products, bought me boxes to pack their products, but about 3 months ago my sales have been going down and I do not know how to get up again.

help !!! How can I be successful again? What could be failing in?

What was changed? Is their a new competitor? Is this low season? First you need to identify the factor that is resulting in less sales and only then can you plan against it.

Also, good marketing always helps.

Are your competitors superior in any way? What is working for them? How could you generate brand loyalty with your current customers? What makes you stand out? These answers will make all the difference.

Have you identified the reason for this decline? What types of products? Are there seasonal demand? What's the turn around time for your customers to dilute the stocks etc.

1. Know the customer; 2. Generate rapport; 3. Focus on service, not sales; 4. Find out what your customer's problem is; 5. Help your customer to decide; 6. The sale is a consequence of good service; 7. Be prepared for the “no”; 8. Use a tool that helps to capture and retain customers; 9. Offer different forms of payment.

Ok so my father literally has the exact same business. It’s a fucking cash cow. I think the key is search engine optimization, and pay for it. Somehow they make good money with like 6 employees (which, TBH, they only need 2). Granted, their main product is staple equipment but it kinda goes together.

They order the products from China and literally stamp their logo on it. I don’t think they even have a dedicated sales person at all. All inbound from Google searches or something.

I think initially my dad went out to trade shows and whatnot, but certainly no one has done that in 10 years.

Anyway, just some ideas for you!

lol he didn't. It was gifted to him from his mother, and his father started the business. It's even managed like shit but refuses to die.

If you have old customer contact info follow up and ask them how they have been and if they are still selling X.  If they say yes, ask them how they have been packaging their goods as of recently and look for feedback on why they arent still using you.  That would be step 1 for me.

I have to agree that this is a very important step, you have to find out what was successful and what wasn't. Did they go due to the price only? Did something happen during shipping? Quality? Quantity?

Thank you, you are right, those are good questions that I will have to consider. What I will try to do is a survey to my clients to see where I could be failing and be better at that and move forward.

it's your first year mate, you'll probably see some years will take some bigger dips than others. You have to take into account last year, EVERYBODY was ordering online, packaging was in a much bigger demand, startups, midsized and enterprises were doing home shipping, still are but now that most people are tired of staying at home, shopping isn't done fully at home anymore, so this dip had to be expected.

Now you'll have to see who's your real clients and start looking for other clients, maybe try to reach out to international companies in Central America that require shipping to the US, become THEIR shipping hub, maybe???? IDK just trying out ideas

Also, try to look into channel partners for supply chain companies, they are always looking for businesses like yours that can help their clients.

Best of luck!

Focus on what makes you different, and pay for advertising. Increase that budget, maybe hire a consultant short term?

Everything ebbs and flows, buckle down, think hard, and you got this.
