How to hack the job market

1. connect with the SDR's, AE's, Managers, Directors, CSM's of the company you want to work for (my note to managers and directors is usually a pitch to if they have openings and why I'm a great fit)

2. 'hi x I am looking to join (company) and was hoping to connect with (titles) to see what it's like working there! Open to a quick chat?

3. once they reply, ask about culture, morale, performance, and opinion of the company if they would reccomend and finally if they would be open to a referall.

if your profile is optimized for the results you have generated in your last role. you will more than likely generate an interview for yourself easily and be a very impressive candidate that impressed the recruiter by doing their own prospecting and homework.

also follow my previous guide in tandem.

all my love,
the kid

A recent hire at my current company did just that - found me and asked if I would connect re the position.   We had a great talk, and since she was awesome, I let the manager know she was worth interviewing, and the new hire also felt good about the decision to join.   It's a smart thing to do - assessing the company, the expectations, the management - all of it.

A recruiter had already found her - she intelligently reached out to me to learn more about the company.    It's all good, I'm happy we have someone of her seniority and my VP is thrilled as well.   I was using the example of someone who did the smart thing on LI - look for other people at the company to get their take.

Great advice for actively searching for a job. I'm not actively looking but I never close the door. No matter how happy am at my current company I'm ALWAYS open to opportunities. My LinkedIn has been set to open to new opportunities for like 4 years and I never plan on turning that off.

networking with people currently at the company is something so many people overlook. A large part of why I got my current job (or at least I choose to believe so) is that in my interview, the hiring manager mentioned a hobby of his that we connected over. A day or 2 after the interview I shot him a message on LinkedIn, didn't even mention the interview, and just started a conversation about said hobby. A few days letter my offer letter showed up in my email inbox.

Nice hacks

One I use to gauge the actual experience of working there is to contact past-employees, more likely to tell truth since there's no-referral bonus at stake or cognitive dissonance of being in a not-so-great situation

How do you find them?

Linkedin Search Bar -> Type in company name -> do not click anything on the search result page.  below the search bar/above the search results click the tab "people" -> all filters -> past company being the company you typed in

Its lowkey af, and not perfect bc it will show internal promotions, but it can be helpful finding ex-employees

agreed! i've followed a similar framework. haven't applied to a job in a while and have landed a few interviews. treat it as a sales process.
