I’m going through it y’all :(

I was just put on PiP and recently started interviewing because I'm done with my MBA this month.

I did not get a job I had 5 rounds of interviews for because the CEO thought I didn't have enough staffing experience.

I am a Team Lead, Business Development within SaaS for a Staffing and Recruiting start-up on Series D round.

I need to scale my interviews and figure out where I can focus my main attention. im looking for a Business Development Manager, Account Executive, Account Manager, Customer Success Manager roles.

I'm thinking through what foundation to focus on.

I have 2-daughters so I need a job by the end of March 31st. There's a lot more to the story but this gives a nice summary.

Thank you so much for reading!

You getting an mba and you’re looking for entry level sales roles? Seems like a waste of an mba.

Most companies don’t want mbas for sales people either. Something to think about.

Thank you your response. I already got an MBA. I finish this month. My intention is leadership and management. Trying to build my sales career. I pivoted from marketing and operations.

yeah Sales and MBA are not really a match imo. Unless you do it for your network

I do not disagree, but I am curious why you do not think sales and MBAs are compatible. It is honestly something I have not given a lot of thought to and I am curious as to why you think they do not align.

Your best bet is to always leverage your network. Reach out to ex-colleagues, mates from Uni, and anyone you think you`ve left a good impression on. All 4 of my sales jobs (except for my first job) I got through referrals. Just reach out to all, and things will turn up!

this is rough! i hope you can push through.

If you are currently a BDR, i think it will be hard for you find an AE role in this environment. I would focus on BDR or BDR manager roles. that will be where you could get the most traction the quickest.

Thank you! Good advice and that’s where I’m focusing my attention. Market is real bad right now. I have a few interviews lined up for Customer Success Manager role, Account Executive and BDR Manager.

Can you hit the goals in the PIP? That is your first task. If you can, do it. If you can’t, do not put any effort into the job and just focus on getting a new one.

I can but at the same time I have to interview so it will take a lot of time and effort on both ends. I just need to be strategic on my approach. Thank you for reading and providing your thoughts!

Stay positive. Negativity is contagious.

MBA won't likely help in the short term...

PIP is scary but can you honestly say to yourself you have room to improve and drive numbers? If yes, then I'd bust ass at current gig (while still interviewing for experience).

Are you looking to stay in staffing, or are you looking at other verticals? If you just need to get something going this month, I suspect you can't be too selective, so branching out a bit in your search may be beneficial.
As others have said, your MBA won't be much help for landing a job, so that's not going to be an area of focus as you apply. I do want to congratulate you for finishing it, and I hope it is beneficial to you in the future.

Here's a link to companies that are hiring - 1/4, so there are three more. Might want to check some of these out and see what they have open and if any fit. https://bravado.co/war-room/posts/100-companies-hiring-for-sales-roles-currently-part-1-4

My only suggestion is you have to flexible at least for now as you desperately need a job while you find a perfect one for you.

Hey man, it's rough out there right now and I have 2 children myself with a 3rd on the way and was just RIF'd so if anyone in here knows what your going through I think it's me. My recommendation to you is to treat your job search like a full time position, reach out to hiring managers on Linkedin with creative outreach and show why you are good at Biz dev to begin with. Being a BDR for a HR tech platform is also a potential path to pursue. please let me know if this is helpful
