I need help to crowdsource an EOQ email I don't want to write

So today is our end of Q3.

I've had an upside deal in the pipe which is stuck through the client's long and tortuous approval machine. At this point I know it's not coming in today.

I asked for an update on the process yesterday and got no reply.

Now my VP wants me to send a last outreach with them copied in before we push it out to Q4. I know this is a bad idea because it's out of my champions' control and will probably just annoy them.

i'm looking for creative text for this email. anyone have a very soft last chaser? I know my VP will then reply with some useless BS so there..

I was thinking something along the lines of circling back one more time to see if there is anything we can do to support their decision from our side otherwise we'll touch base next week etc..

I'm sure someone here has played this game plenty of times

Maybe phrase it in a way to show its out of your control that you are sending the message? โ€œIโ€™m getting increasing pressure from my VP to close this out by end of Q becauseโ€ฆโ€ then give a reason why.

Could be an extra discount, could be a value add. Need a reason to be pushy though or - I agree - your champion will get ticked off.

I like that idea, and I just pulled this off however it was over the phone. Tone matters.
But yeah there's no way to 'crowdsource' this you just gotta sit down and write it.

that could be a parallel one as I'm meant to CC my VP in said email

Or you could cite whomever. Your CEO, CRO, etc etc. just need to show that itโ€™s out of your control and put you on their level.

You could always text/call your champion on the side to let him know the email is coming so he is aware , maybe he could provide more insight over the phone then.

Good idea - this mitigates the need to be too soft on the email, which might get pushback from management.

I've always liked using the boss/manager as the big bad wolf and me just doing my job so a call like this can help build a relationship or subtlety become a favor ask. Everyone has bosses and things they don't want to do. If you're honest about it, great things can happen. Landed a few deals that were hanging jut b/c of this tactic and transparency.

Get in front of your champion prior to sending the email and just let them know the situation. I'm sending a few of these out myself today and putting the blame on my management team and that I still looking forward to working on this deal even if it isn't going to close on the timeline we originally thought

If you don't sign today, my boss (cc'd) will fire me.

Also how hard of an email can this be to write? Do you want this deal to close?

It seems the concern is to not annoy the champion, but HVAC's idea to reach out personally in advance seems to overcome that challenge. That said, 100% my VP would be asking the same thing - one last try, please.

Should be short and sweet, donโ€™t have to write a novel.

You arenโ€™t selling here. You are too soft. Is there a need / gap to solve? Is there a compelling reason to sign the deal? Is there an impending deadline the client needs to meet? If the answer is no then your client is buying on their terms. You arenโ€™t doing anything. I agree with your VP if there is a deal to close. If not, move it to Q4.

You didn't run this through ChatGPT yet?!? Could have had 12 versions in various tones faster than it took you to write this post.

Write it up and use AI to edit. Tools like Bard or ChatGTP are great for something like this
