I just got this one. Must say, I swatted back pretty hard and got dude to crack a smile. Without missing a beat, "I'd have no respect for you if I was." I think this was a moment, after submitting a 12-month plan and 2 prior talks, it was either totally disqualifying or will result in an offer. I'm optimistic it's gonna be the latter.

You got better? I'd like to hear it. Ain't never too old to get schooled.

I mean I generally would have told them "In full transparenency they aren't the only place I'm interviewing" LOL...TBH I think I did that in the last job hunt and I found it entertaining at the very least.

Slightly better than coming back with, "in full transparency, I'm not wearing any underwear..."

Funny enough got the same objection today!

They have 3 candidates for 2 spots. I asked point blank where I rank and was told I was 1 or 2.

Asked what the hesitancy was and they said they wished I had a few more years experience.

I was able to walk through my experience again with hiring manager and highlight some of my more complex deals. Also put a dig in that unlike someone who's been at Cisco or the like for 20 years I still grind.

She asked me to sum this up in email and send. Feeling good but who knows...

A few more years experience is such a horseshit answer. Like they can quantify what that even means. Guess what, homie, I’ve got’em and they’re not worth the grey hairs I earned while getting them.

So appreciate the vibes. No way they can hurt! To be real, I’m really fortunate to have income while looking for the stable stable. Many of our breed don’t. I’d like nothing more than to land and make a mission out of hiring the best displaced people who have been out the longest. ✊

As, it's quite normal to have multiple candidates competing for the same role, the guy was just honest and trying to be humorous if I were you I would just say So Do I:)
