Should be the same for a single role. Different roles have different structures, but it can get messy if you change comp based on how it came in.
Need all sorts of rules for situations like an inbound following outreach to a prospect.

I understand the rationale behind why there would be a difference, but honestly didn't see such a split (yet).

Not really, but you would think you should get a bigger % for an outbound. But if you ask for that, they will just lower the % for inbounds not make the % outbound higher

I have never heard of an inbound AE. Are you in the US?

Only seen net new vs growth (hunter vs farmer) as a differentiator in comp.

The functions must be the same. Different parts have different structures and changing the structure based on how the package is generated can lead to confusion.

All of my deals are either inbound or from the SDRs. And they're all paid at the same rate.

Do you self-source yourself too?

No. Not allowed. To be honest, with an average deal size of $50 MRR, it wouldn't really be worth it to prospect for deals.

so SDRs outreach for deals that convert to $50 MRR? how much do they book then?

To be honest, I don't know what their process looks like. I know there's an inbound SDR team and an outbound one. And in total there 25 SDRs serving the North American AE teams (40 AEs). If I'm getting 1-2 a week from them, I'm guessing they have to be booking quite a bit.

Vast majority of the businesses we work with do not have a business website, their email address is either their personal email, or a generic email address they set up for their business (i.e. "abc at gmail" etc.). Many aren't even listed in a Google search. So a lot of the common outbound tools (Zoominfo, SalesNav) wouldn't be worth the cost.

Why would it be different? You still need to move through the whole process.

Because of ROI I guess, so companies can compensate more since it could be high CAC for inbound.. just thoughts..

I havenโ€™t had a different inbound Vs outbound however we do get paid more on self-gen deals Vs. BDR sourced.
