Internal Brand

Topic is pretty broad, but I'm curious how people manage feedback internally as it relates to managing their perception.

I've always been of the opinion that I'm intelligent enough to it problems inside and outside of my team, and as long as I'm coming with a well thought out solution and not being a dick, it should be a positive.

That said, at my last company, once my brand was established my frustration definitely got the best of me a couple times when I felt like nothing was changing.

Looking for similar experiences and any takes to diffuse before being seen as a "know-it-all" sales guy.

People need to feel like they have agency so I treat it similar to a sale. Before disagreeing I ask My discovery questions to understand their “whys” then provide positive recognition for parts they say that make sense. Then I counter softly by asking permission - ie “May I suggest a potential alternative to consider?” When they consent I frame by first reiterating what I heard them say, then weave in my point, and close by asking for feedback.

I was super agreeable in my last role and got along with marketing and finance and engineering and I was super underpaid and got nothing done so now I’m a blunt prick and don’t bother wasting my time with marketing and only engage with other functions when I need to close a sale and I’m killing it. Does sales ops live me? No. Do I even know their names? Also no.

Yeah it’s a great point. I think I’m general I was well liked, and everyone in sales including leadership understood the shortcomings, but it just never resulted in anything. At the end of the day everyone is taking care of themselves anyway

That's a serious big nuts move, I love it. Let him rot in the annals of spam hell with all of the other shitty prospects/customers out there.

I had a former customer who was such an ass I put him in MY spam folder. Dude was arrogant, narcissistic, and just total piece of shit. I refused to sell to him.
