Is it just my observation or does Salesforce prefer not to hire people of color in sales?

Or maybe it is coincidence.

I notice that compared to a lot of other major SaaS companies, the sales team at Salesforce seems to resemble a fraternity at an SEC school. Just seems like there is hardly any diversity there and it is textbook boy's club.

I think they have 1 black guy. His name is Token. Great guy. Pretty sure he has a bas guitar in his basement.

Its really unfortunate the lack of diversity in tech sales. The national push for diversity in 2020 seems to have lost a lot of steam, hopefully it returns

Not surprised, I feel like that 80% of SaaS companies and I’m being conservative.

SAAS is a field that is lacking in diversity and it’s well known that tech in general is. Even companies that have tried to fix this with a diversity and inclusion leader have largely failed to get it corrected. It all feels like lip service anyway so companies are covering their ass.

Probably bc they keep hiring a token black woman as their DE&I PR cover and then leave the entire actual leadership team in the hands of almost entirely middle aged white men. 🫠

There was a huge shift in the workforce composition for sales in the large tech company I worked for previously, but I noticed it was primarily gender based. When I started, there were comparatively few women, and by the time I left, it was significantly higher - getting closer to 50%, including management. In sales, diversity seemed to be a bit more of a challenge compared to other departments (product, engineering, hr). Not sure if this helps with your particular observation; I know the efforts were underway, but in practice, I don't know how well they're being carried out.

hmm interesting. what other companies have you compared them too?

I wouldnt doubt that they are majority white males. whether or not this is on purpose....hard to tell.

I did work for a Saas company that DID get sued because of their hiring practices haha. that was interesting.

What caused them to get sued? Was something in writing during the interview process or was it just the demographics on the team?

Its not hard to look around majority of Tech Sales orgs and see very minimal diversity so curious what causes some to get sued and others not

Here's the thing, you're right but i don't think this is just a company thing, more of an industry thing. Salesforce is pretty progressive and they are very transparent on what they are doing.

I’ve heard they’re racist AF from friends of mine who this type of bs would negatively affect. That said I’ve yet to find a software sales team that had at MINIMUM identical diversity levels compared to the overall US population

I worked at Salesforce, left somewhat recently. There was more diversity than I’ve seen at most companies. They also have countless initiatives and program as to help foster diverse environments and teams.

I don’t know globally, but the office I worked out of was pretty diverse (one of their largest in the states, major metropolitan area)

I haven't taken the care to notice or look into that. But in the end and even if it looked that way. What does it matter? no one in here is their HR director..

not to be a dick, but I just don't see the point in this "opinion" erm..post

Diversity doesn't spell success. What ever happened to merit? I don't give a rat's ass if a person is a gotdamn rainbow. If that person is good for my company, I will hire that person. Enough of this skin color BS.
