Is it worth calling the Owner/Hiring Decision Maker of sales job you’re applying for?

I'll be honest and say I've tried it a couple times since I have read in some places that it shows great initiative. Also with some basic prospecting it's fairly simple to get the direct line of the Decision Maker. However, I don't feel 100% convinced and think it may off putting. Thoughts?

Is it worth calling directly?

its how I got my current job.

I saw in the job description who the person would be reporting too. so i messaged that guy and we connected and had a conversation which went well and the rest was history.

I voted no, but it totally depends on the person.

If a candidate called me I would think it was pushy and creepy, some sales peeps are super into that kind of go-getter shit though.

If you vote no “it’s creepy” are you even in sales?

How did it go when you tried it?

If you're bold enough, go for it! I think this is a 100% in your bounds to do for a sales job. Even with a company that you're wanting to work for that doesn't have a posted job opening you want.

Absolutely. It’s the same thing as prospecting when you’re looking for a job in sales. You’re trying to close yourself that should be the easiest goddamn sale you can ever make.
