Is leaving voicemails a waste of time?

I am curious fellow war room salespeople, is leaving a voicemail when cold calling a waste of time? I leave voicemails frequently, but rarely get people to return my calls.

If you do leave voicemails, how long are they? I think 30-45 seconds is ideal, sometimes mine are a minute long.

If I do leave a voicemail I say that I am following up in email as well. They be will be double contacted.

I'm horrible about checking my voicemail. I downright hate it.

I will always leave at least one VM, and actually have received call backs before. It is just one more avenue to get attention. Nothing more than 20 seconds, and I always state my name and company twice (beginning and end).

15-30 seconds. Any longer than that is a waste

I do if I've called 5+ times and get no answer and don't have an email. Or if I've called numerous times and sent an email and get no reply. At that point I have nothing to lose. Best case scenario they call me to book, worst case scenario they don't reply, neutral case scenario they call back to tell me to get lost and I can move on.

For cold calls, we leave a VM after an unsuccessful attempt to reach #6 and 7. After that we send a connection request on LI. VM is maybe 20 seconds.

The only reason I ever leave voicemails is to get them to check their email and realize I'm serious about wanting to get their attention. I don't expect a call back. My voicemails are usually 15 seconds long.

I think it's worth it. If I get a voicemail, there's a chance I call back; if I don't, I'm never returning the call. It's only a few more seconds, so I usually take the time to leave something simple.

I like to leave AT LEAST one voicemail. Tell them I will be following up with an email. If they have someone who screens their calls then I can say they are expecting it... gotta do what you gotta do

I always leave a voicemail. It’s something to reference in your follow up email.

Leaving a VM pointing towards an email has gotten me some replies- asking someone to call you back is very, very rarely going to get someone to call you back.

I also leave VMs.  You can reference it and I often see them open the original email sent after they listen to the VM.
