In the "nail it and scale it" world of tech sales, this is front and center. These monkeys making hiring decisions generally have little experience in leadership. And when they were selling, the industry was on fire. It's not hard to sell what everyone thinks they need to have.
So, keep the grind up. You'll find a hole you fit in. There are just fewer of them.

It could be worse out there! I've been getting final round interviews and mostly been beaten on experience mostly. I have about 4-6 YoE depending if you count entrepreneurship, but have been losing to people with 10+.

I've not managed to secure even a phone screen since early April. I'm employed, but not in a good spot. You're right, it is brutal.
Are you not applying to enough positions perhaps?
I apply to 7-10 a week. I'd apply to more but there just isn't much that's either in my area or remote.
I actually hired a virtual assistant to apply to jobs on my behalf Hahahha. Ended up applying to 400+ jobs and have got quite a few interviews that way
Your luck will change, I have felt like this more than once in my career and it always has worked up. Head up!
It is tough out there. A lot of senior positions are open. You just have to compete with everyone. There is also a lot of people who are bad in sales. It happens.

I got whacked last week and I can't even get phone screens after applying. 8 YoE, over 5 of which is SaaS and nobody wants to talk to me. I've never seen anything like it.

I'm experiencing the same thing man. Multiple final rounds and then this long rejection letter from HR about how tough it was to not select me. It's discouraging for sure because my current position is an AEs worst nightmare. I had no idea what I was getting myself into now I just feel stuck. I hope you get good news soon though. Keep your head up, you're not alone.

I have 10+ years of being an Enterprise SDR / inside sales person (before I went into SaaS partner alliances)...I would work for $30/hour. I'm on Upwork...but not finding anything.
