Job search strategy feedback

Step1: search for open roles on job boards

Step2: filter with my icp

Step3: reach out to AEs in the team to connect. Try to schedule 20 mins with a couple of them to learn about org culture and sales processes. They might refer you.

Step4: apply and reach out to hiring manager with a 100 word message. This message would contain an insight from discussions with the teammates or from research and three reasons I'd be a good fit.

Step5: cross my fingers and wait.

Is there anything else I can do to get more interviews?

Only thing I can think to add here is have a fresh set of eyes look over your CV/Cover letter, maybe even outside of family/friend network, someone whom you respect professionally.

Asking for 20 minutes from an AE is mission annoying.

"Hi Skippy! I hope this email finds you well"
<Skippy is about to smash the delete button>

"Hey I hear you're a top performer over there! Congrats on your recent success!"
<now Skippy is deleting the entire mailbox.

"Wondering if I could get on your calendar for 20 minutes to chat about the environment"
<If Skippy gets this far, he's going to be sure to tell his manager not to speak to you ever>

2 lines when you're contacting Skippy. No fluff. No scheduling. Just call him. Would you block your public calendar for 20 minutes for that?

I normally contact them on linkedin and am getting decent response. Wondering If I should shorten my ask to 10-15 mins.

I am thinking calls might be more annoying. What do others think?

Remove the time parameter. Tell them what you want to know. This should be a conversation, not an interrogation. Are you British?

Bahahaha. Well, if you want to be polite, don't forget to upvote your replies. :)

Otherwise, these people are on your team. At least they should be. Just ask them, "does it suck or not suck?"

get on the phone and make a call. Don't rely on email.
Also, if you think calling people is annoying them, sales probably isn't for you.

Let me think through this. I am happy to call prospects but am not sure if I want to do it to other AEs. What do others think? LinkedIn or call?

I was thinking about this the other day. Calling all the way. Yeah, AEโ€™s are busy, but if I got a call from an interesting person with quality questions, Iโ€™d spend the time talking with them. Having a solid team makes a difference. As an AE, Iโ€™d think of it as my contribution to building the culture.

Great steps, I would also reach out to any HRs that reached out to me before. They might have multiple potential opportunities for you.

Focus on your resume on the reasons why they should hire you and the extra value you would add if being hired including definitely the sets of skills and experiences you already have that your new role would benefit from.
If all of the above still ain't that good enough, then it's time to make the call!

For whatever it is worth, find 5 companies you would aspire to work for, that are hiring. Find the hiring manager whether it is through LinkedIn or not, it's easier to do this with smaller companies than with larger ones. From there, Why you want to be there, making an assumption of what challenges they likely have and how you might solve them and then sending it to their inbox. Hiring managers will lose their shit for doing this.

Not sure if youโ€™re still interested. (Actually curious to know what happened to your efforts)

One thing Iโ€™d add: create a 3-5 page deck using the info you gather from your meetings with AEโ€™s. Assuming your discussions were less about โ€œwhat itโ€™s likeโ€ and more about โ€œwhat are the biggest challenges youโ€™re dealing with as an AE,โ€ you should have a solid POV to share with the hiring manager.

This is where you can come up with a solution to their biggest challenges. Speaks volumes more than a resume IMO. Time consuming? Yeah. Worth it? Youโ€™d have to answerโ€ฆ is it worth getting the offer?
