Just got promoted to AE from SDR

Hello fellow SAVAGES! Had a mock demo with the sales director today and he offered me a job as an AE same day - I only was told about the interview/demo last Friday so this is a pleasant SHOCK.


My 1 year anniversary as an SDR here (ent SaaS, listed) is tomorrow but I start 08/01.


Anyway, happy to share with the War Room because I've had a lot of advice from you lot over the past year and its really helped me finally make it out of grind hell!


But also, HELP!!!! I originally thought I'd have a month or so "pre ramp" time to get up to speed, not a week, so what do you recommend I do between now and then to best set myself up for success?

Congrats! First thing you must do is change your title in the WR and wear it proudly. Next, get familiar with those you'll be calling on. Eliminate the busy from the work and hit the ground running. Territory? List of accounts? Whatever it is, dig in. Figure out whom you'll be calling and what you're going to say. You can draw on other AE's experience and just use that relatively newly acquired thick skin of your to just get in it. Nothing will happen until you do.

It ain't so.
Pink in the theaters was fun. Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling both did great. First few scenes were great. Then we're off to real world and sure a lot of issues need to be addressed. But I don't agree with Barbie needing to address them all and at that it tried way too hard. I guess I was expecting moral story of Toy Story in a Barbie format and what I got was not that.

I'd ask the manager who hired you what you should be focused on for the next week. They'll have insight into what they want AND they'll have more immediate impact on your success.

Congrats and thanks for sharing. I know there's a lot of SDR's here that feel trapped in their role. Promotions DO EXIST!
Talk to the top performers in the role. Ask if you can meet with your sales leader at the end of each week for your first month or two to get feedback on what went well and what you could be working on.
