LinkedIn - net positive or negative?

I`ve had a LinkedIn profile and have networked on LinkedIn for more than 15 years now.

While it`s been a huge help most of the time, especially with my previous role as I was in a sort of B2B2C full cycle AE position, it`s now starting to seem like just a waste of time.

I can`t really put my finger on what exactly is different than before, so wanted to ask you savages: do you still find value in posting, reading content, reaching out to people etc..

For me, about the only type of value i see now is checking the locations of the contacts I'm about to meet, so at least i have a bit of small talk around that at the meeting kick off :)

Agree, great for figuring out mutual connections, who`s sho in an organization, etc. Still makes sense, although it`s a but overprices i think.

I like the jobs aspect. I still scroll through my feed occasionally.

That still seems to work, yes. But the actual content.. all I see is

SalesTechMarTeck sales reps, teaching the rest of us what works and what doesn't. As if selling to sales people is the same as selling to HR, Finance, IT, etc.. it really isn`t.. That`s why i find the content mostly irrelevant for me, as an enterprise sales AE who sales to HR/HRIT.

It's good for prospecting, but scrolling is always a waste of time

i think a big shift that you have seen is the increase in SHIT content, and EVERYONE trying to be a fucking influencer.

I use linked in to keep a pulse on my industry, connect with Key ppl and share stuff that my prospects would actually want to know.

I only scroll very rarely. The minute people started treating it like FB or Insta, it became absolutely worthless. The content became mostly garbage.

I use it to find my network and to prospect in Sales Navigator. That's it.

Its good for search, not setting meetings anymore. There is still good content for "influencers" but used have a ton of success setting meeting with it

Me too, I mean I booked a lot of meetings like 4-5 yrs ago. Yes, I worked in a different industry then (sold corporate training), but do you think it still works for booking meetings?

Most of my SDR team books meetings through partnership opportunities, inbound, and some outbound emails, but almost never through LinkedIn.

Have "buyers" abandoned LinkedIn altogether?

I'd say net positive overall, but the scale is pretty close to even.

I really only use LinkedIn for when I'm on the job search. The content is tired. Their news section is biased. Not a great user experience anymore.

Jobs board and being able to find prospects. Other than that, all the posting has become just a bunch of clout chasing.

For jobs it's great. But the value of posting has plummeted with the rise in horrible influencers

Finding new companies and jobs it's not bad, but prospecting is rough. Linkedin is for the long game.
