Looking for an AE role in US. (Currently based out of India)

Hey tribe

I have been in sales for past 5 years as an SDR + AE looking for a role in US. I was the first hire as an SDR and moved to an AE.

Here's what I did so far with the current team,
- Setup the initial sales funnel (SQL's)
- email campaign for outbound reachouts (53% open rate and avg 3-6% reply rate)
- qualification to demo and demo to onboarding
- setting up quotas for new SDR's
- because of the positioning we introduced PQL
- responsible for setting up tech architectures for PQL (product qualified lead)
- PLG experiments- demo, support and other useage metrics

little backstory of recent interviews
- I'm getting connected to a lot of startup's based out of india selling in US but no luck with US based companies.
- I want to move forward from startup's to series A-C companies but no luck there.

Here's my question
1) I'm looking to move to US and get more hands on experience (Our targeted businesses are only US) so which companies should i focus? and what's the process to apply? because I find no luck.

2) Is there any referrals that I can use?

@BlackhawkHey, there are couple things you can do

1) Get your resume right, it is critical.
2) Make it your full time job in a way to job search, spare 2-3 hours a day
3) Make a list of companies you want to work at
4) Find out if they have open roles
5) If yes, don't apply first, send connection requests with proper personalized notes
6) once you get in touch with those people, ask them to jump on a call to talk about their experience and journey for 15-20 min
7) at the end of the call, if it was a good convo: ask them if they can refer you
8) Once you get the referral, find out the hiring managers name and send them a cold email (this worked for me like a god)

do these and then we can have a chat

Welcome to the war room, I would recommend you go to the Jobs section of Bravado if you are looking for a new job. This space won't really be helpful in your job search.

I really felt good about this username and then I saw yours and realized I am the a-hole who stole someone else's approach. You say the word and I will change it in a heartbeat

THIS is really hard. I do not know many people that have done this successfully.

it sounds like you have solid experience though.

I would do some research on what US companies align with your previous experience and find the right person on linked IN and reach out directly to them and explain what you are looking for.

best of luck

You're in for an uphill battle. There's a ton of talent in the US, so why would they take the risk and spend the money to bring someone over?

Not trying to be a dick, and I truly wish you the best, but it's going to be difficult.

Good luck with everything! I would assume there is a way to filter job posts willing to sponsor H1B so I would start there

I speak from experience - you have to stay in the same company (US or not) for a very long time (say 7-8 years), build enough credibility there and really smash the unexpected to be able to get a role in the US as an AE.

Like someone pointed out here - there's a lot of talent in the US already, a company would have to really put a bet on your talent to move you to the States. So. Stay with a firm for a long time and try your luck.

I would highly recommend trying to find a job which outsources from the US to India. The bigger companies have programs which will bring you to the US if that is what you eventually want.
