Looking to get back into sales specifically customer success manager

I've been in a program management role for the last 2 years after leaving my previous sales leader role of nearly 10 years. I had an awesome opportunity to build a company from the ground up with 5 people. We took the company from zero revenue to 20 million dollars in 2022. We started with 5 people and we have a 100. I've learned a lot and grown tremendously professionally. I am anxious to get into another remote role. I haven't been having much luck getting interviews. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Why would you go from leader and founding team to CSM?

Program Manager
Our VP was issued equity by the owner and chose to retain it. Thier contract gave them control of equity issued. The VP chose not to share it with the founding members. We received a bonus less the a tenth of a one percent of the first year's profit. The VP netted $500k from equity payout.

Ok, but that doesnโ€™t explain why youโ€™d go for a CSM role and not a role that leverages your experience in scaling a company that quickly and brightly. Do you want to be an IC and not a leader?

That doesn't really answer the question.

I did a values check with myself and I find the IC role more exciting. Leadership is simply more draining and less rewarding.

Yes absolutely I'm trying to focus on CSM roles. Sorry if that wasn't clear from my question.

im very confused on why you left such a successful leadership role.

that resume should help you get a sales leadership role at another company.
why looking at CSMs?? thats not really a sales role

I'm looking at a CSM role primarily to expand my skill set since the role is a bit more of a balancing act.

So are you still working there, and looking while employed, or did you leave that job?
And sounds like you want to go from leadership back to IC. Were you a CSM or AE before this role?
Finally, it's been asked, I also want to know why CSM? If you can explain that to us, then you should be able to frame it for hiring managers.

I'm still working here. I was a sales leader in a Fortune 50 company for about 10 years in my last role. CSM role appeals to me since the role is more of a balancing act between company goals and the client's needs. I found the leadership role rewarding but exhaustive.

Sounds like you have solid reasoning.

I canโ€™t speak to why you arenโ€™t yet getting interviews outside of itโ€™s a buyerโ€™s market for companies with the glut of talent available at the moment. We have had people post resumes with identifying details removed if you want to get some feedback that may help get some traction.

This may be too honest but you do know that CSM's aren't really sales people?
Seriously though, good luck in your search.

Only suggestions I can have here is try to find a product that helps program managers - many of these companies hire people outside sales because you can speak their exact language

With so many Sales Leaders here, When a client say "im not interested" then continues to talk gives us business pain should we continue the conversation or end it there?
