Looking to get into AI

Sales Savages,

I recently quit my SaaS role of 5+ years and decided to take some time off before pursuing something new. I'd like to break into the artificial intelligence field and work with a company that is primarily selling an AI or AI SaaS product. I've been doing some research but it's hard to sift through BS tools on Google searches and find the companies that actually have great products that need experienced B2B salespeople. Any advice on what direction to take my search is appreciated!

Most of them are BS.

I'd follow the money (i.e. look who's getting serious funding)

yeah following the money is always a good idea. They have money to burn on sales and the VC/PEs do the DD for you

AI has already filled all of the open positions, thank you for your consideration.

What area of AI? And how do you plan to present your resume to catch an AI-start up's attention?
What you could do now is start to educate yourself on the various forms of AI and their practical applications. I would also do some LI-posts on AI as you get more educated. Finally, look for AI-oriented conferences and note down the major sponsors and contact them.

Way too much smoke and mirrors in AI.
You'll have a hell of a time cutting through the BS.

AI, more often than not, isn't AI. If you're serious about the category, dig around in ML solutions that offer predictive analytics. The orgs with offers in the ML space are generally legit. AI often means white labeled ChatGPT. Everyon'e got that and its falling flat.

Amen. Honestly, many SaaS companies have AI/ML embedded in their tech already - so look for the tech companies where there is funding, growth, and open headcount.Any companies new to this stuff are already behind.

narrow your search. AI for "video", AI for "copywriting", AI for "what ever you are passionate about". a generic AI search you're going to get a bunch of BS.

Technically 'AI' can be applied in most if not all industries. Be more specific.

It's the next bubble, I'd rather join an established company dipping their toes in the water vs a start-up trying to capitalize on the hype.

Just by reading this post, I can see that you're not really familiar with the AI space which is okay. I would recommend looking into AI certification from one of the FAANG entities and see if this is something that you would like to pursue.

AI is hot, yes. But make sure you are seeing through the product and the vision these AI firms are selling.
Word of mouth in these cases would be better than just trusting Google search.
