Looking to start a career in sales.

I have worked remotely as a Project Lead and Account Manager for over four years with a US based tech start up. While a part of my JD involved taking sales calls and winning clients, it was not all. I want to switch to a purely sales role. Where and how should I start? Are there any companies willing to take people like myself? If yes, what is the best way to go about it? Thank you in advance.
