Love my company…not sure if my team loves me though

Been remote for about a year, have regular calls with management who are all in good terms, however with the other SDRs I often feel left out.

I used to have recurring calls with a few of them, but those faded away and I barely talk to anyone in my team if it's not a group call. I also hear through team calls that a lot of them intermingle, coach each other, have inside jokes, etc.

Me and my AEs are all cool though and get along very well.

I definitely have a role to play by not being proactive, and the remote life has not made this any easier. I've taken initiative and set up a new recurring calls with someone I do vibe with and looking forward to it

My performance is good, just wondering if antone else is having similar issues. doesn't feel great to be honest, makes me feel isolated and unliked. Never had this at any other job, but this is also my first remote role.

It sucks, but you have to be the one reaching out for the most part. You gotta be the one to call and vent a little bit and be vulnerable

Thanks, yea this is what I’m starting to understand. I have to be the one to call, and make the first step.

Being vulnerable is not something I do often at work, might be making me seem standoffish…which I’m not.

Will give it a shot thanks for the input

Do you guys use Slack or Teams? That is one way I keep up with people in the office that I’ve built up relationships with. I also built those relationships via those channels. Being warm, friendly, asking questions every now and again, being responsive when someone asks a question in a channel all help. It’s kept me from feeling totally isolated.

I think relationship building is something you REALLY have to strive for, especially in a remote environment. That being said, it can be tough, especially in a high churn environment where your closest friend could be axed or leave at a moments notice

Relationships tended to form naturally for me with in person workplaces, remotely it’s very different and I’m seeing here it takes active effort.

I agree with this, and I never thought I'd say that to a chelsea fan

I feel you. Tone, especially in writing (Teams, Slack, whatever) can be almost impossible to manage, too.

Which is why you pick up the phone to call and build these relationships. It's up to you, not your team.

See, I do perfectly well on those channels, which then lead to calls.

But I’m snarky…and the friends I’ve made have shared that sense of humor. :)

happens with remote roles. if you're not booking biweekly one on ones or weekly one on ones with the squad relationships fade. everything takes care. Also sometimes people get jealous of success. like you said be proactive

You just need to break them out of their comfort zone/routine. I would always introduce something new for either a team meeting or training. Make memes of people, customers, etc. The more they know the non-work side of you the easier it is for them to work with you.

Do you keep reaching out to them? Or is it something you've stopped doing?
