SaaS is not an industry, it's a licensing model.

Not to be pedantic. But if someone told me they wanted to sell SaaS in an interview I would think they don't have a foundational understanding of the tech world.

Yes, I understand SaaS is the licensing model for specific tech companies. When I said SaaS sales role/experience that what I was referring to. Experience within that particular model. Multiple companies that I have spoken to so far only accept sales experience with that licensing model.

It's likely the same reason many med dev companies want experience in their exact therapeutic area. Existing customer relationships, less of a need for extensive training, etc.ย 

It's an obstacle you'll have to be prepared to discuss in an interview, but focus on your numbers and results and that "should" help.ย

Yes former med device but not SaaS (yet) selling some dinosaur on prem shit right now but currently interviewing for similar roles. I would recommend getting ANY experience selling technology and then you will have better stories to tell while interviewing.
