No, but only because I got laid off already 😂

SaaS isn’t going anywhere though, I hope… I’m working with a developer and launching my new business soon…

I didn’t even look, I took 1 day for a pity party and then started planning my own business. I’m ready to start hitting the phones to get customers in about 1 more week!

I’m determined to never have a boss again.

It’s a little hard to talk about without details that will out me… I white labeled & customized a software and then I’m wrapping it up with some services for contractors in a very small specific niche that I used to work in so I have a decent name built up and lots of contacts

SaaS bubble is not bursting as subscriptions are now the way everyone wants to deliver services.

What has burst are the investors that allow businesses to forever run in the red in pursuit of growth.

Actually, I've just heard of a startup who refuses to sell to SaaS companies now.

Only twice :-) I've been working in tech startups since 1994. My first was one of the first web development company in the world, in San Francisco. I'm on my 10th layoff in almost 30 years. I'm tired...

Just think of all the new people, process and procedures you have experienced compared to the Regional VP of Oracle who is +25 years looking over his same pale blue cube walls into the distance.

A) election years are notoriously bad.
B) economy is at some point going to get really bad. (During and after COVID we literally printed ungodly amounts of money) it’s not an if it’s a when, hands down.
C) tech sky rocketed during COVID, money was cheap stocks up, job hopping was easy. Companies over hired.
D) it’s not only tech. Medical is down, hardware and software, gov hardware down, enterprise IT channel down.
I’m saving up just in case but like most economical challenging times we get through and we come out stronger after

Not worried short term. I try not to agonize about the uncertainty the future holds because I don’t have a crystal ball and I find being overly worried about work can be a self fulfilling prophecy and spark self sabotage.
Truth be told, I feel I’m over qualified for my current job but there are 2 things I’m looking to lock down on my resume: 4 - 5 years of tenure at a single company + title bump to senior AE.

^ ^ ^ ^ Top two recruiters I know are not taking resumes from sales people with 3 jobs in 4 years on their history. They are insistent on some job stability (+3 years)

Been laid off 10 times since my first startup in San Francisco in 1994 (one of the first website development companies in the world). Ya...I'm a bit jaded. Also, a Depression is predicted for the year 2030. Until then we will have recessions...then 2030 will hit and all fluff SaaS will be gone. Economists Alan & Brian Beaulieu are predicting 2030. I heard Alan speak twice at conferences and they have an older book out called, "Prosperity in The Age of Decline." I'm prepping for it and this year is not looming good.

It's all part of a cycle my man, tech will boom again, the issue was VCs throwing insane amounts of funding to businesses that had no business getting the money. the layoffs at Square,Okta,Paypal are all for pumping cash sheets and making the shareholders happy.

This SaaS Companies are growing with x2, x3 YoY, so I think sales is the most "untouchable team" until this results stop growing.
There will be always new SaaS companies with growing needs, so at this moment, in my opinion, sales is very needed.

I'm not remotely worried. Not working in tech might have something to do with it.

Aside from that, proper sales professionals seem to be few and far between. I've lived through more than one boom/recession cycle and I can tell you in the good times plenty of morons manage to make plenty of money.
When the downturn hits, it separates the wheat from the chaff.

How to not be chaff: Invest in yourself, become better at your craft, support your colleagues, be an ally (not an accomplice, there are important diffferences), ask tough questions instead of telling people what you think they want to hear, don't worry about who gets the credit, don't kiss ass, stay true to your ethics, play the long game.

I got layoff so many time for me to worry about anything. It does not define who you really are!
