Message to hiring manager

Hello people,

Thanks a lot for all your help while I figure out my next job. I have chosen the jobs I am applying for and have contacted some existing and ex-employees to learn about the culture. Researched the companies and have a decent idea of what they do and how they are doing.

I've applied for some of the jobs with my resume and plan to contact hiring managers next.

These are the two templates I am choosing between:

Hi X,

I hope all is well with you!

I hope you don’t mind me reaching out on Linkedin. I am reaching out to discuss my application for the Account Executive role. From my research till now, these are the things I love about this role:

*Reason 1

*Reason 2

*Reason 3

Based on the job description, These are a few things that make me a strong candidate for this role:

*Reason 1

*Reason 2

*Reason 3

All reasons are 25-50 words with some name drops and showing my research on the role.

Do these align with what you are looking for in your next AE?

Thanks,

PS: Here’s a video if you prefer video content. (In this video, I plan to create a slide deck going through the above things in 3-4 slides)

What would you prefer to receive if you were a hiring manager?

1 shows I have done my research, and 2 is more concise.

25-50 words on 6 bullets and a bunch of other fluff? No.

Hit them with a 5 sentence why you, why you now and drop it after you cold call them. Act like they’re a prospect.

Like @braintank said about fluff and formality... It was enough to make me not notice what @oldcloser said, and I am a high-ranking member of the Grammar Police.

With a prospect, I do around six cold calls and a sequence of six emails.

Would you do that to a hiring manager?

Hell no. If I’m ignoring your call and your email then back off. You’re bound to do more damage than good when targeting a hyper sensitive prospect like a hiring manager.

A VP of IT can get annoyed and it’s totally fine, but the VP of Sales at a company you want to work for is hard to repair a relationship with.

So much fluff and formality.

Is that how you talk?

Write like you speak.

Thanks!
I have been selling to hospitals over the past three years and have gotten very formal in my approach.

Good feedback and I can customize as per the formality level of the industry I am dealing with.

How many words would you try to fit it in? Something that shows I have done my research and show I am a good fit?

Leave something for the interview. You don’t need to tell them everything.

Take out all of the non confidence speak.
Keep it simple.

why I reached out.

why you should care.

why your company.

Can you re work it so you answer all those questions? Keep it even simpler by answering them with 3 bullet points each

Email subject line: Re: {company} Job Post

Hi {X}

You’re clearly looking to hire an {y} who does {z}. I’m a top {a} who's done {b} for {c} years in {d} verticals for {e and f} sized companies. Ive had success selling into {ICP g}, {ICP h}, and {ICP i}.

Start with a straight shot and establish that you’re qualified. If you can’t make a confident claim of “qualified” find a JD that you’re qualified for. If you can’t find a job you’re qualified for, get creative. If you can’t get creative, lie.

If you can’t lie, get out of sales. 👍

That’s it. Quick, simple. You can give them the rest of the story in a call. Your goal in the message is to get that call.

Appreciate that you are working through this. I admire that.

Sounds good, but somehow more official than required, keep it a bit friendly as if you're sending it to your manager to ask for a vacation and it's just OK to add some humor factor on it (Better Check Gasty's Prospecting Threads to get some extra good points on this and some additional skills that may help).
Do like the closing question though, and overall it ain't bad at all.
