~* Never Enough*~

Honest opinions and answers please! My (now previous) leader has a habit of asking me to draft email templates and then proceeds to just delete what I did and rewrite it. Why even ask? time and time again.

Well maybe you should save their edits that way when they ask for another template you can update the last draft they made.

If they continue to change it after that, there just want to feel useful and provide "coaching"

There are managers who just want to add their own touch, no matter what.

Maybe they are looking to see if you learned anything. Just my thought

I believe it is to the point where it’s actually harming my productivity and morale .

Have you asked them why they do that? And now that they aren't your leader, what does it matter? Not to be a dick, just curious.

What’s this email about? New campaign, follow up etc.?

I generally draft an email on important follow ups and try to get some coaching and the feedback has been helpful so far. It tells my manager the way I think vs how I should be thinking.

Are you writing an email for them to send? I used to do this with a leader when I asked them to reach out to my customers for something. She would ask me to template it and then she would understand what I wanted to her communicate but would rewrite in her own voice.

It’s an email for me to send. I see how it can be beneficial…but after a year of it, my morale is shot.

Look at it another way - he's going to rework it no matter what you do. So don't be emotionally invested in it.

Could be for a variety of reasons - a test for you, to gauge understanding, to see what you think sells, etc.

If that’s the only negative, I wouldn’t let it bother you.
