New BDR - how to crush onboarding

SOOO I accepted that offer from a large public company in the cyber security and data monitoring space. Gave up about a 20% salary bump a startup was offering me because I think this is where I would get better training and a great logo on my resume for the future.

Starting in 2 weeks and working on my 30-60-90 day plan.

I've added a bunch of stuff from different sources and my personal experience but when should I be aiming to start getting on the phones, building a list, doing research, what questions should I ask other AEs, SDRs and customers.

I would appreciate if anyone has any really good resources for this or a template that I could check out. I haven't found one I like yet.

Also, would appreciate any tips on onboarding. my previous role was very unstructured and I'm excited but a little scared for this next step. (Yes, I checked out the Academy articles)

Congrats!

IMO - reverse engineer this…

What’s the ultimate best case scenario when you wake up on day 91?

Work backwards from there to establish a 30/60.

To gather what this looks like, find out who the top 10% of reps are, reach out and ask all the questions. What’s going right? Where do they want to improve? Etc etc.

Assuming it being a larger company, you’re going to have all the resources at your fingertips so lean into the personal connection with your new team members.

This is imperative for growth internally with the company. Get people to be with you and for you.

If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.

First day of onboarding find the top performing BDR and get time on their calendar. Ask what they did to be successful and if they could share scripts and messaging that helped them get to the top

Odds are, with a big public company, they will have a solid onboarding program. Listen, learn, ask questions, put yourself out there. You will do great!

Agreed, I'd be surprised if they didn't have a specific plan for when new hires get on phones, etc.

Like all said - communication is an important part. You will have to take the ownership to connect with these guys (SDRs and AEs) and see what and how they are doing things. That will give you some clarity and you yourself would identify the questions you need to ask further.

First principle of the whole 'ramping up'.

- Understand what SDR does. What the key roles are precisely and work on your soft skills. The art of voice modulation, the art of convincing someone to listen to you. The science behind uncovering pain points.

- Then relate this to what pain points your product is solving.
- Then what the product offers.
- Then what are the ways that your company supports in which you can reach out to the prospects.

Put together all of this and formulate a 15-30-45 day strategy.
