Go to your local department store and try several on. Remember you'll be standing all day.

IMO - you should pair a blue suit with black shoes. But that’s just me.

Ecco is a good brand, and very comfy able - especially the slip ons . Rockports are comfortable. Allan Edmonds are great quality and will last 20 years if you take care of them.

Here in Belgium it almost always brown with blue. We even played a game and guessing the US people through the color of their shoes was a big hit :D

However, now that i'm in the finance industry black is indeed the right choice

you can tell people from the US by their shoes. Me and my other canadian colleague have a game in airports.

Definitely team brown shoes, but I know I am an outsider

Totally ok, fashion changes over time, and I personally don't see anything wrong with it.

Just NO WHITE SHOES after Labor Day! ;)

Im with you here, black with blue. brown and blue just looks wrong and cheap unless you are wearing denim. Then dont wear black because thats bad.

As for brand, Dune are good and inexpensive, Suitsupply is great for black or brown, i recently got some 4 wheel drive boots from Johnston and Murphy which look pretty cool tbh but i live in the snow so.

No way man, black and blue is a no go for me. You really think blue suit with brown shoes looks "cheap?" Wild. Blue with black you're looking like an ink pen, IMO.

well those brown shoes are sneakers which is obviously tacky, and that sport coat looks black to me?

haha yeh not the best examples, did it on suitsupply so the options are a bit limited for footwear. i have the jacket as a dark navy.

Maybe I am just old school but i worked in the fashion industry for nearly 8 years and a lot of my clothing choices are still driven by that. wouldnt exactly say im the peak of fashion though.

ultimately i think it comes down to the occasion and what sort of business you are conducting. High value deals with C-suite executives im going black shoes, product training or demo with floor workers, i would agree brown is best.

yep that works i suppose. Again comes back to my other comment, depends who im meeting with.

That said i conduct 90% of my meetings with no jacket, jeans, brown shoes, belt and a nice shirt.

and im my fashion job, if i turned up looking that smart i would have been laughed out the building. most of my clients wore gym pants and shorts with sandals. and im talking about clients like Tommy Hilfiger, Ted Baker, Suitsupply etc.

You and my husband are old school. Brown used to be relegated to tan suits and denim only.

Fortunately the extended pointy toe look seems to be out again. That was ... horrific.

I generally nix the tie when I do wear a sport coat. Often I'll wear chinos/corduroys/denim as a bottom. Hardly ever wear matching slacks unless I'm giving a presentation or something.

Is brown with a blue suit really not right? I’ve always thought black with blue looked so bad lol.

It's been popular lately, and trendy.

Black is traditional, but you're not my husband, so if you prefer brown, it will be fine.

If it’s a darker blue, I would stay with black. I just picked up a pair of Bally Wesper loafers for a couple of meetings. If I’m not walking a lot, I will use them. If I need to walk a lot, I wear a pair of Allen Edmonds cap toe lace ups. Those feel like you are walking on air.

Blue suit I like to pair with a light tan Chelsea Boot like sharp. I prefer Robert Graham or English Laundry. Dressy but comfortable. May want to consider an insole if u will be on ur feet for more than 6 hours at a time.

I buy Johnston & Murphy for the past 20+ years, Good quality shoes that will last.

Depending on when the trade show is, it may be too late. You don't want to be standing in the booth all day wearing new shoes.

And with a blue suit, either black or cordovan. I would not wear brown shoes with a blue suit. And whatever shoe color you buy, make sure the belt is the same color as your shoes.

^i’ve put serious miles on these.

One shoe for basically the whole trip.

Any of the Cole Haan “grand” series will do

Often get lucky at Nordstrom Rack or the like for cheap
