Offer Letter Time

What is the longest you've had to wait for a offer letter after accepting a verbal offer?

I'm currently awaiting one. Its been 3 days and I still haven't gotten it. I received the verbal offer on Friday. The recruiter did let me know it will be delayed due to some "approvals" whatever that means on Monday and I'd get it by end of this week. This is the longest I've gone awaiting a letter.

Over a week. It sucks. Sometimes though people are sick, travelling, or otherwise disposed.

My previous employer, who had me in the system, took three weeks to generate the offer letter. After I was already in my new position for those entire three weeks. Then took a few more weeks to reconcile my pay - and even then, did it in stages. It sucked.

This employer had an offer letter in my hands a few moments after my verbal offer.

So...it definitely ranges. Sometimes CFO/finance need to make sure the numbers are right and the CRO and/or SVP Sales need to make sure everything offered is aligned. It's normal to have some vetting in addition to HR to make sure that it matches up.

If I am given a timeline I have no option but to wait. I would have asked if she could at least give me an email confirmation while I wait for the official letter.

Yeah, I appreciate it, I don’t plan on it. I don’t normally put in two weeks until after a background check is cleared just to play it safe.

At the place I’m at now, it took about 2 weeks. I was the first sales guy they hired, so it took some time. The place I’m about to jump to was a lot faster. While I’ll get the official signable offer about a month after the verbal, we negotiated salary and targets.

i think the longest ive waited is a few days as well.

if you havnt already, i would reach out to your contact and see if you can get an update. Sometimes there is just a TON of stupid loop holes companies have to go through to get an offer out.

Around 1 week to 10 days.

3 days is a long time after verbal. There can be a long drawn out process to have everyone sign off internally though. It's probably sitting in some arbitrary VPs inbox waiting for them to click "accept"

One bizarre experience, I got an offer letter 90 days after telling me verbally that I got selected. Apparently they give offer letters only after the notice period has been spent completely.
