Office / Physical job?

I would say half way through Covid whilst the majority of people are working from home, people I know stuck behind their desks agreed in saying they wish they had a more manual, physical job such as being a sparky, plumber etc etc.

A year later, some still agree that maybe the office isn't for them. Obviously, people that have worked a manual labour role will know what I mean but I was wondering if it wasn't just myself and mates that think this.

I've considered packing it all in and training to be an electrician from time to time, the only downside is that you have to severely reduce your income to start as an apprentice in most cases.

Do others crave a bit of a different scenario outside working from time to time or?

Sometimes I miss waitressing...it was great exercise and fun at times. Then I remember having to smile in the faces of grown ass adults who were having a temper tantrum over receiving pickles on their burger or us not carrying some obscure liquor and am fine with my office life.

I've always thought everyone has to have either a manual job as in construction or work in a bar/pub as a waiter/waitress to understand that people are assholes. Then you'll be able to deal with anything/anyone that comes into your life - especially in sales.

Agreed! People would be a lot more decent if they had to spend a few months in a service oriented role...

I feel you...I miss counting cash at the end of a shift knowing it was all mine. Cash just hits different.

Been there and although it is a simpler life, office is easier on the back and wallet.

The back, yes. The saying of 'Lift with your back and not with your legs'.

Sparkies etc when good do get paid bank though on a routine.

However, I do get sales you make your own money!

I never worked in the service industry but I feel like I do well in CS even though I've always been in sales. I have plenty of friends that work in service and it was tough over COVID and a lot have been burned out due to all the changes. I much prefer the office for the freedom and not having to work weird hours.

Weird hours is a very good point, I guess, although annoying sometimes, the routine can be beneficial. Do you not ever think working your own hours on manual jobs equalling more money (ish) could work? That's not a fact just a question!

Fair play mate, I can recognise the difficulties. Well done (without being patronising).

I loved working in a bar. Would really like to donut sometimes. Or maybe buy a foodtruck and doing that on events.

Trading time for money is an easier path, however, will never provide the rewards of commission sales.
