Panel interviews

Howdy all,

I have an upcoming panel interview with the company I have been interviewing with for a SDR role. I come from retail sales and I was just wondering what I should be expecting? im typically used to 2-3 interviews and have never experienced a hiring process like this before. I've faired well so far and want to make sure I have all possible outcomes/questions covered.

Thanks!

EzPz. . Expect them to ask how you deal with continuous rejection, how you stay motivated and keep going, and how you feel your skills will transfer. . Make sure you talk about dealing with continuous BS in retail, and though it’s not the same, you’re used to the grind and actually looking forward to it. Talk about feeding off/being driven by negativity. . And make sure you convey a solid understanding of the differentiation of where you’re coming from/where you’re going. That’s their biggest concern about hiring out of retail. . “You have to go looking for it” vs “it comes to you” . Also, don’t over think the panel part. Usually there’s only one person making the decision. He/she brings the others for their opinion, and typically entry-level will have an HR person or something who’s not assessing you technically, just making sure you’re a culture fit. . You got this!

By panel do you mean 4 on 1 interview or 4 different interviews in 1 session?

If it's the latter then theyre doing the Xoogler interview, as.google loves ramming a bunch of 15 min interviews in a sequence to test people.

Not ridiculous per se but shows.what their focus is.

I think the interview style is stupid personally, but I ain't hiring

Keep the same momentum going on.

Might want to read about company, culture, values etc. as all want to see how you fit to their value and what will you bring on table with you.

How many stages is this interviewing process for an SDR? Sounds ridiculous to me

Thats why I am asking! They’re still a startup and this is my first jump into the SAAS/tech industry so I figured I would ask away!

TL;DR - answer in form of detailed stories Be prepared to answer with stories that would demonstrate the answer instead of just giving an answer. An example would be for a question like “tell me about a time where you failed and how you overcame that” - don’t say: Well, I’ve lost a few times in my life, but I am strong willed and determined and I push past it Instead say: That happened once in college. I had a project that I thought I had the perfect subject for. Because I was over confident, I didn’t prepare as hard and I didn’t even start putting it together until the night before. Because of that, my project looked thrown together compared to my classmates and I got a C-. Instead of being mad at the teacher, I recognized that no matter how prepared I feel I am, if I don’t give 100% preparation and attention, I will lose. I’ve never made that mistake again. Something like that.

Good luck, I've never heard of a panel interview for an SDR role! Just keep calm, analyze the questions, take a deep breath and be yourself.

STAR questions.
Have a story for everything.
Never go negative, stay positive.
Please don't say "I care too much" or "time management" when they're asking for flaws. Say something like, I am just learning pivot tables or I follow up on closed deals to check in when appropriate.

Stay well.

When you say retail sales what do you mean? I only ask as I sell software into the retail industry or is yours more so on the floor sales?

Prepare questions for them regarding expectations and what their top performers are doing that separates them from the rest.
